Apart from military equipment and certain high tech stuff, why have we still got sanctions against Syria? What purpose do they serve? What goal are they intended to achieve. Anyway I see no excuse not to lift all sanctions against Syria aside from the afore mentioned exceptions.

And why is the USA still in Eastern Syria stealing its oil?

Wouldn't "not stealing its oil" allow Syria to fund a lot of its own reconstruction?

Wouldn't "not sanctioning Syria" also help with reconstruction and humanitarian aid more than giving a few bucks to the UN?

Biden killed the waiver that allowed an American company to get oil. The money that oil generates goes to Kurdish fighters, all we are currently doing is escort duty in the area we control.

Islamic State, which Americans used to call ISIS could, and would, go back to conquering Iraq if we let it. We have several hundred there, which is not a lot, to keep that from happening.

They've made no secret of their plans, and if you don't know about them, or their plans... well, let's just say ignorance ain't bliss in this case.

Yes, helping people cope with post-earthquake trauma has to take a back seat to "controlling the world," doesn't it.

The world's policeman can't afford to *help an old lady cross the street* when it's got its knee on her neck.

Bruce Fein wrote:...Americans are endowed with a disproportionate percentage of angelic, altruistic DNA compared with non-chosen others. Uniquely among nations, the United States wishes to make other people happier, freer, and wealthier by fighting against corruption and tyranny abroad.

The United States is capable of engineering those wonderful results if supported by sufficient money, staying power, and military force...

I simply don't believe that the above passage has any credibility.

The US has lifted sanctions for 6 months. Perhaps this is the excuse to lift them in the long term without lifting them.

The UN guy in charge of disaster relief described statements such as yours as inaccurate and unfair. Our magic wand is being repaired..

You could have checked it's credibility, you did not. You're not actually interested in credibility..

I may start ignoring you until you grow up.

Well if that's joe Biden's doing, then I commend him for it. I think we're still sanctioning them here in Britain.

Sidetracking the topic a bit, "grow up" is a term with an assumption that children are morally or intellectually inferior to normal adults (e.g. irresponsible even if they are capable to).

In this case, QatzelOk is simply being irresponsible because being responsible does not help his narrative.

His problem is worse than "not growing up".

That said, I agree that it's a waste of time talking sense to him.

This entire post is just a sanction against QatzelOk, isn't it.

If QatzelOk experienced an earthquake, you wouldn't help him, would you, because you are locked into an ideology that doesn't allow you to help (or respect) people you disagree with ideologically.

And your ideology has replaced your morals, hasn't it.

"I hate Jennifer, the new girl as school. And I will not help her when she falls in a mud puddle because she doesn't wear the same fashions that me and the trendy girls do. Hmp!"

Just a denunciation.

Sanction means actual measures to deprive your rights or freedom, which I think only noemon and the mods are allowed to do here.

Besides, I do not have access to means to actually sanction you elsewhere anyways.

USSA News wrote:Israel ready to bomb Iranian aid deliveries to Syria

Image

An unnamed Israeli military official told Saudi Arabia’s Elaph newspaper on 9 February that Tel Aviv will not hesitate to bomb Iranian aid deliveries for disaster-struck Syria under claims that Tehran seeks to “take advantage of the tragic situation … to send weapons and equipment to Hezbollah.”

The anonymous official added Israel has “intelligence” to back up their claims, as the Israeli army has “intensified its monitoring by air, land, and sea of everything that Iran is transporting to Syria.”...

I'm not sure how credible a source USSA News is. But then again, I'm not sure how credible a nation-state Israel is.

At least Israel allows others to know and tell what they think. Iran seems wanting to lie and cheat their way to the end.
