The Australian government has made millions of dollars for corona fines. A pregnant woman was arrested for being against the lockdowns. A different woman got tazed for refusing to wear a mask. I could go on, but you get the picture. These lockdowns are a gift to authoritarians everywhere. Fear is the most efficient way to rule the populace. Sent to prison for wrongthink... How anyone could support this is beyond my understanding. And now we have Biden saying he'd extend the shut down until a vaccine appears, that's absurd! The increasing civil unrest due to lockdowns and mask mandates is making for a very tense situation all across the western world.

SHOULD PROTESTORS STOP OR CONTINUE - THE FIGHT AGAINST LOCKDOWNS?

@WarmPotato
I'm assuming warmpotato is your YouTube channel. I don't think you're merely named after them.

Anyway, yes they should stop. Not wearing a mask puts other people at risk of catching the virus from you, and it also protects you from catching the virus. Now, I'm not for the government crushing dissent, but social distancing should be enforced on all protests during this crisis, that includes anti-lockdown protests. If you don't social distance, your protest should be deemed an illegal assembly.

QFT, *like*

This contains the disease. When I sees guys +/- 40 whining about masking I can't help but wonder if they will ever growing up

Indeed. The government should adhere to its own laws. When they don't there is an issue with hypocrisy and as such dissenting voices from different views.

Although I will say the whole point of protest is to complain about policy and this is an issue of when freedom of speech should apply I guess. :hmm:

In my country (the U.S.), the government can restrict rights if there is a compelling interest to do so, such as health and safety issues. Plus, it's not like this would ban protests. It would just make them abide to some regulations during this crisis, with rights and public safety balanced.

They should certainly be stopped. I've done my absolute best to stay away from all news sources for the sake of my sanity, but it's not always possible, so I have to vent to my family and now you.

Unless they are well over 90, none of the protestors had anything to do with the blitz and even if they did, they were taken to an air raid shelter.

Lots of precautions were taken to protect the public as much as possible to prevent them being blown to smithereens.

For fuck's sake.

Some old lady was wittering on about how she didn't care if she caught the virus. See if she's still saying that when she's fighting for every breath in a hospital ward, her lungs full of blood clots and her heart damaged. She going to refuse medical care?

The last straw was seeing some old berk, who was quite possibly Jeremy Corbyn's brother, wearing a placard which stated "My body, my choice".

Oh, really? How is roaming the streets close together unmasked not interfering with someone else's body? Someone who has no choice but to be out there, and deserves to be protected from catching the virus as much as possible.

They should all be identified and put on a list headed NO MEDICAL TREATMENT.

I do not support such protests, but I do not believe they should be stopped either. I do not believe the severity of this disease warrants the level of hysteria in so many people. If this disease were deadlier than it is I would say yes, but in this particular case, I don't see it as bad enough that we should be stomping out protest. A controversial position to take, but that's my stance at the moment.

A good old communist sees opportunity for socialism in Covid 19 and climate change. The question for you is:

If 100% of the nation is on UBI-----------who is working to maintain the social fabric? Who is working to create the wealth needed to give UBI to all? Where do the funds come from? Would it be mandatory to take UBI and stay home?

Governments worldwide are abolishing democracy by using these lockdowns, and cracking down on protest. The political repercussions will be very bad.

Left wingers are by nature authoritarian. That the way has always been. Why? Socialism cannot exist without an authoritarian government.
