I have supported both the left and right during the past 10 years. I have come to certain realisations that I would like to share with you.
The left and right divide does not actually exist in anything other than non-important issues such as political correctness, animal rights and toxic masculinity. This is proof enough that the traditional parties have been colluding to distinguish themselves on these non-important issues so that they leave the important ones outside the public debate while operating as a single party for everything else(such as the economy and the legal and political structures) and for Americans this has been most obvious, since both parties care only about one thing, corporate America, which is a bad place to hedge your bets when these people would sell their mothers for a penny.
People believing that these issues are more important than say hyper-inflation, the destruction of the post-war rules-based world order, war and the structure of their politics & economy then they have something coming that they have never seen before.
Food for thought, do you believe anyone cared about trickle-down reagonomics and the slow dismantling of social democratic Keynesianism while an AIDS epidemic was unfolding right at the same time? Everybody was too busy digging the trenches, the right was too busy trashing the gays(they were played for chums too, because the right for the first time ever gave up their entire nation to a bunch of international corporate offices, they gave up national interest, patriotism and leadership for minor tax breaks and fake outrage), while the left was too busy trying to defend them, then came animal rights, then cancel culture and round and round in circles we go with Reagonomics having gone from total obscurity in some faculty in Austria to being endorsed by almost all "leftist" parties in the west, while another show has been playing on TV.
Anyhow, the reality is that the relationship between the left and the right in the US is a very important issue of our day, possibly the most important because it is one of the main things that might keep that orange buffoon out of office. What I want to say honestly though is that I do not care about that buffoons toxic masculinity, or all his other issues, I care about what he has done to the global world order. He has proliferated the destruction of the post-war rules-based system, he has emboldened a series of dictators to act with impunity and he has set in motion the demise of precisely that order. We may not see it yet but a big storm is coming our way and unless we put our heads and hearts in the right place it could be too late.
The West is the leading civilisation on this planet, it has been since the Greeks beat the Persians at Granicus, they then passed the mantle to the Romans, then to the Greco-Roman Byzantines, then to the Venetians, the Spanish, the Dutch, the Portuguese, the British, the Russians and eventually to the Americans(the only common thing between these countries is that they have been led by classically educated white people), if this mantle gets passed on to the Chinese, who are well-organised and determined to destroy our way of life by buying like crazy all our food stock and whatever products they can get their hands on, hogging it in China while dumping commodities on our markets to gain leverage, then in all honesty you don't know what's coming and trust me it is easy being born in privilege, what is not easy is losing it, not having money to feed yourself, having to die in a war so that your family can eat.
Just because we have been taking a 50 year break from this, during our several thousand year long history, permitting us to worry about non-issues, it does not mean that this is not just around the corner and when you combine these very obvious attacks on our economies with the loss of a 1/4 of GDP in the past couple of months alone, with soaring unemployment, falling real wages and soaring food prices, it all adds up to a bomb waiting to explode on our hands and this time it will not be in a place far far away but right inside our own households. People do not worry about political correctness, toxic masculinity and cancel culture (for either side for that matter) in countries without privilege (or in other words in poorer countries) because you cannot worry about these things when you are unable to feed your own children. And that’s the bottom line.
What we should do, is put our eyes back on the ball, reorient the debate to issues such as superpacs buying off our democracies, corporations buying off our entire countries, shredding them apart like companies under hostile takeovers, a global world order without any rules, because another bottom line is that when the push comes to shove, all animals on this planet earth care about one thing alone, their survival.
