We all know those supposed "political fact check" sites, that purport to be politically neutral, but are in fact hopelessly biased.
Conservatives or those on the Right start reporting a story, and then these "fact check" sites say it is untrue and "unverified".
Except when the evidence eventually becomes overwhelming, and they have to do an about-face, because it becomes too difficult to deny it any longer.

On April 29, 2024, Snopes changed the rating of this fact check from "Unproven" to "True" based on testimony provided by Ashley Biden.
In an April 8 letter to a New York judge requesting jail time for one of the two people convicted of stealing her diary, Biden wrote, "I will forever have to deal with the fact that my personal journal can be viewed online."
Previous versions of this fact check noted "strong evidence" that the diary existed, but argued that no source had authenticated the contents of the pages published online, writing that "the authenticity of photographs purported to be from a diary is a separate question from the factual existence of a diary."
Ashley Biden's letter to the court, in Snopes' view, provides that authentication.
A summary of the long story...
There was a diary floating around the internet where Ashley Biden accused her father (and family/friends) of sexualizing her at a young age. Joe Biden was directly accused of taking showers with her. She talks about believing she was molested as a kid and feeling traumatized. She has also recounted in her diary all of the mental health issues she has suffered all her life from what she believes stemmed from all this sexualization that she is still seeking therapy for. She also goes into great detail about how this has negatively impacted all of her romantic relationships. She appears to be the victim of pedophiles.
Despite the FBI effectively accusing people of stealing her diary, many said it was unproven because Ashley Biden has never confirmed the diary was hers... despite people being charged for "stealing" it from her. But she recently wrote a letter to the judge on the case demanding appropriate sentencing for the people involved with taking her diary. Its contents are now considered verified and even Snopes hasn't been able to hide behind the "unverified" label any longer.
