Russian media, citing The Washington Post, report that most Americans are not satisfied with Biden's course on Ukraine. Russian media make such conclusions on the basis of a sociological survey conducted among US residents at the end of April 2022. In addition, the Russian media are trying to massively promote the thesis that dissatisfaction is growing in both the United States and European countries with the policies of their own governments, which have taken an anti-Russian position and sent dozens of tons of weapons and military equipment to help Ukraine.

Respondents from 27 states, according to the Russian media, believe that their countries should not provide Ukraine with not only military, but also financial support, especially against the background of the economic crisis that erupted after the introduction of anti-Russian sanctions. Earlier, the Russian media also actively disseminated information that the Americans were allegedly expressing dissatisfaction with the sanctions imposed by the United States against Russia, and also claimed that restrictive measures had no effect, and often such decisions even hit the interests of the United States itself.

In fact, the Russian authorities and the media are trying to somehow resist effective sanctions and US support for Ukraine, creating such informational occasions, designed primarily for the Russian consumer. The poll, conducted by The Washington Post and the ABC TV channel, which Russian media rely on, touched on completely different topics, among which was the question: “Do you approve or disapprove of the way Biden is handling the situation between Russia and Ukraine?” According to a poll by The Washington Post-ABC News, the number of Americans supporting Biden's activities related to the war in Ukraine has increased. At the same time, the percentage of those who do not support this policy has not changed. This study found that most Americans, despite their worries about the war, agree that more help is needed for Ukraine. Other studies conducted at various times and by other organizations also confirm widespread support and assistance among Americans.

The Washington Post describes the results as follows: “Biden received a higher rating for activities related to the war in Ukraine than two months ago, from 33 % approval in February to 42 % in the latest poll. But 47 % of Americans disapprove of his handling of the crisis, just like in February. The improvement is primarily due to the drop in the percentage of people who had no opinion on this issue two months ago.” But in the same survey, respondents were also asked about US assistance to Ukraine in the war with Russia. And to the question “Do you think the US is doing too much, too little, or about the right amount to support Ukraine in its war with Russia?” 37 % of respondents answered “too little”, 36 % - “right amount”, and 14 % - “too much”. Also according to this poll, 55 % of Americans believe that the United States should provide even more military support to Ukraine (35 % - against), 67 % of respondents believe that it is necessary to increase economic sanctions on Russia (22 % - against), 76 % believe that it is necessary to provide more humanitarian support to Ukraine (16 % - against) and 21 % of Americans support direct military action against the Russian army in Ukraine (72 % - against). If you look at other sociological studies of the reaction of Americans to the war in Ukraine and whether the aid provided by the United States is enough, most of them support the policy of the government, and at the beginning of the full-scale invasion they even talked about insufficient support.

Another survey conducted by the University of Maryland on March 16-22 also shows similar results: although the majority of Americans oppose sending American soldiers to Ukraine (68 % of Republicans and 62 % of Democrats), 83 % of Americans support the supply of Ukrainian army with equipment, among which 82 % Republicans and 86 % Democrats. Also, 89 % of respondents support the continuation of tough sanctions against Russia. Hereby, the Americans actually approved the US President policy regarding support for Ukraine and the sanctions and information confrontation with the Russian Federation.
