Another example of the problems caused by political and judicial integration. The reality is that the different nations in the EU have vastly different standards of justice.
All it takes is one judge in any country in the EU to issue an arrest warrant, and you could spend a long time in prison without a trial.
The following link gives several examples of terrible abuse that is going on. These people are arrested in their home country on the slightest suspicion, then transferred to another country where they have to deal with terrible living conditions in prison. Bail was denied, for no other reason than that they are a foreigner. And the prison conditions in countries such as Greece and Poland are terrible.
