Comrade General Kov wrote:Comrades, at the end of the war, we had information that Japan had no plans of attacking Russia.

But the American/Japanise war was without doubt a personal war, Japan had all the rights of her nation to retaliate against the American imperalisum that started the war before any gunshots where fired.

no,japan didnt have the right to strike the US. Japan was never really a "victum" of imperalism like china and other countries, other than us "forcing them to trade" which i have never heard of untill this board.

What American imperialism is this? If I'm not mistaken, Japan was the country bent on building an empire.

In fact the US actively traded with them and sold them raw materials almost up until the beginning of the war. These materials were used to help Japan establish an empire in mainland China.

At that time, Japan had the least natural resources in the world comrades. They were desperate to stay an industrial nation, so they tried to build an empire and take other countries resources. If they at lest didn't try, they would fall into the 3rd World.

I think we can all agree the war wouldn't have been successful against National Socialist Germany if they weren't together (allies)

Maybe Hitler wanted to go West, I don't know. He certainly never suggested it in Mein Kampf.

Japan isolated themselves from the world at the time of European expansion. Then about 1870 someone sent a big ass gunboat into a Japanese harbour and said 'what are you gonna do about it?' The Japanese answer was simple - industrialise fast. So they did. Empires were the thing in those days, so Japan thought they might get one too, starting with Korea. The rest is history.

In history class we were told USA sent the Commodore Perry in 1853, but they did answer like you said in 1868. Anyway, that was a very original and efficient method to resist.

I recon the only ones that actualy WON during the wars was a German Family called Krupp. They had a steel manufacturin company and they supplied cannons to the Germans the French and the English....they were clever :-)

Comrade TUC has struck near the target. Who won WWII? Military history misses the point. The capitalist industrialists and profiteers won the war. My main vote is for the Swiss bankers; whom until last decade still had Nazi gold (looted from its rightful owners) in their vaults.

Look it up comrade, you will see that some time a long while back, Japan was forced into trade with America, buy the guns. It is also proven that Japan started the war mainly for one thing...

Can you guess it?

HInt: Has to do with modern events.........

O + I + L = OIL

Japan was after oil, as the Emperor said something along the lines of "If we do not find a source of oill, Japan shall wither away like a sick person"

The Soviets would have won the war by 1942 if anyone but Stalin was in power.

The great military purges of 1937 cut the # officers by 60%, leaving units unorganized and much bulkier than before.

Stalin focused on an assault on Hitler rather than the defense of the USSR because he believed he was more treacherous than Hitler and that he would break the Ribbentrop Pact before Hitler. Hitler, therefore, tore across the Soviet Union without being hindered. Stalin then, angry at his troops for losing under overwhelming circumstances, ordered that his men not retreat under any circumstances, wasting thousands of good troops. Stalin ignored the advice of his generals and ordered a senseless invasion
on Kiev.

In the end, despite heavy advantages in manpower on the Eastern Front, Stalin pulled the U.S.S.R. through the war only because of Hitler's pride and inability to pull out of Stalingrad.

A surprisingly accurate simulation of the mutual reliance of the Allied forces, despite their entirely different locations, is a game called Starcraft. If you own this game, go online and download the map: WWII_ Allied Final.

Would the U.S.S.R. have won quickly without Stalin in charge? Probably much quicker.
Would the U.S.S.R. have won in reality without the help of the other Allies? Probably not.
Would the other allies have won without the help of the U.S.S.R.?
Probably not.

The USA didnt win the war, The USSR didn't win the war. The Allies won the war.

Please, if you are just going to criticise Stalin, do it in the privacy of your own home. I'm all for free speech, but I've heard the same lame-ass arguments so many times now....

Its not only a lame argument...but a stupid argument.

60% of the officers arrested in 1937!!! BAH!!! about 20.000 officers were perminantly removed from the military...which was about 7% of the officer corp between 1936-39...and most of these were officers who retired becasue of age or were retired sooner.

60%?? BS!!!...that is why your entire argument is BS.
