41 of the 45 looters caught after Florida hurricane were illegal aliens
Nearly all of the looters arrested in Pinellas County, Florida, following hurricanes Helene and Milton, were illegal immigrants, according to local authorities.
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said this weekend that 41 of the 45 alleged looters rounded up on armed robbery, burglary, loitering, grant theft, vandalism and trespassing charges on their turf in the wake of the two deadly storms are in the US illegally.
The sheriff's office also said that another 196 people were caught in the area under suspicious circumstances and questioned by deputies but had to be released due to lack of probable cause -- with 163 of those individuals found to be in the US illegally.
"As the Pinellas beaches recover, we're gonna continue these patrols and arrest everyone we can who is stealing from the vulnerable of two back to back storms that have devastated our community," said Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri at a press briefing.
In addition to the looters, another 58 people were charged with scamming hurricane victims out of some $250 million for repairs they never did -- and in most cases ever intended to do.
Almost all heartless looting suspects - 41 of 45 - arrested in Florida county after hurricanes are illegal migrants: sheriff , by Jorge Fitz-Gibbon, New York Post, October 27, 2024
Pinellas county is out on the peninsula right next to Tampa, on Florida's central western coast.
This does demonstrate how so many of the migrants who illegally come to the United States are criminals, and how illegal immigration may be increasing crime rates in the U.S.
