This comes from an interview of Elon Musk with Tucker Carlson.

TikTok video

transcript:

Elon Musk: "You've been to downtown SF (San Francisco), right? Have you seen this?"
Tucker Carlson: "Oh yeah, I was born there. Yeah, yeah..."

Elon Musk: "Like, one of the most beautiful cities in the world... and now you have to step over the drug needles, and the feces, and the bodies.
One couple I met, their final straw for leaving San Francisco was, they came home one night and there was a dead body in front of their garage. They couldn't get their car in. Couldn't park their car. ... Yeah, there's no street parking. They're like, this is a corpse in front of the garage. And they don't want to move the corpse, because, like, maybe they (the authorities) need to figure out why the guy died or something, you know? But they're in a bit of quandary, because they got no place to park their car. And they feel that they shouldn't really remove the dead body, so they call 911, and say there's a dead body outside our house. And they said, well... 911 in San Francisco said, 'Are you in danger right now?' And they're like 'Well no, he's dead. Pretty sure he's dead.' And they're like 'Ok. We'll send someone TOMORROW, to pick up the body.' Like what do you mean tomorrow?! So they're like going in and out of their house while there's a dead body outside right in front of their house. Like took them 24 hours or something like that to eventually pick up the body. And they're like 'How about this, we're leaving.'
There's a million anecdotes like that."

"Oh I know."

Elon Musk: "This is not rare. ... I got so many anecdotes.
About a year ago, there were three Twitter employees, who were just leaving the building, walking down Market Street, in San Francisco. Market Street used to be a beautiful wonderful street. Obviously, it's called Market Street because that's where the market was. Now it's boarded up shop windows and stuff. And, um... They were chased by a guy with an axe. He wanted to... They outran him. And they reported 'Hey, there's a guy with an axe, who tried to kill us, with an axe.' The police did nothing. And that guy, with an axe, consequently murdered two people."

"With an axe?"

"Yeah, with the axe. Because eventually he's going to find somebody he can outrun. And he did.
So what I'm saying is, if you don't stop axe murderers while they're attempting to axe-murder, eventually they will succeed in axe murdering people."

He is a man with a lot of money. He can be retarded and still be thought of well in a society where wealth is king.

Meanwhile, in this old Mexican song...Juan Gabriel sings about not having money but a lot of love to give...does it impress the materialistic Pote? That is the question!!

Leaving aside these particular statements it strikes me that a big part of creativity and intelligence is recogonising patterns, spotting patterns that others haven't. Part of intelligence is making links between things that others have missed. It seems to me that the problem is that when you dial up the pattern recognition sensitivity to maximum, you may be prone to see patterns that aren't actually there, to make links that are not really accurate.

Take Joseph Stalin, he became leader of the Soviet Union, in fact he created the Soviet Union as a constitutional structure. He gained as close to absolute power as one is likely to get, retained power into old age and led his state through a world war to become the second super power on the planet. No mean achievement. Surly part of his success was due to pattern recognition. in particular to conspiracies against him. But perhaps this super sensitivity to conspiracies on occasion led him to see conspiracies that weren't actually there.

Even if Elon Musk was just great at marketing, even if he was nothing more than a brilliant salesman, a super hustler, then becoming the richest man in the world would be strong evidence of genius. I've not lost my marbles yet. The Mars Base idea is totally dumb, but when I saw that first stage rocket caught by the arms, it convinced me that, that guy has got a serious aptitude towards engineering and production.

Musk is using his intellect and wealth to provide disinformation in support of Trump and fascism. He is Trump’s Goebbels.

Saeko wrote:When I pick up dead bodies off of driveways and save people from axe murderers they call me a saint. But when I ask why people have been reduced to dying on driveways and chasing others with an axe, they call me a communist.

I think its quad-factored: cost of living crisis (housing & COVID inflation) + San Fran is a great city to move to if you're homeless (lack of rain in Cali and cooler than vast majority of Cali cities + general lax crime & punishment in SF/California + hippie drug-friendly culture).

If I were homeless I'd move to SF. In Canada the homeless move to Vancouver for similar reasons. You'll freeze to death in Edmonton/Regina/Winnipeg winters.

All very true, but I suspect that @Saeko knew this already. She was actually (mis)quoting Helder Camara, who famously said, “When I give food to the poor, they call me a saint. When I ask why they are poor, they call me a communist.” She was trying to emphasise that Musk is actually missing the whole point here. Just as you did. :)

Elon is a piece of shit, and i hope his Tesla bursts into flames and kills him.

You see Rancid, for me this line of yours is really really Latino justice at its best. True Dominican, Cuban or Puerto Rican style passion.

There is no shame in passionate displays of disapproval.

Anglo you are not. That is for sure.  :D

A tango for you. Bueno, derecho y varón. Hee hee.

It's important to call out all the piece of shit humans, and the humans that support the piece of shit humans.

Elon alone thinks he can sway the thing his way.

Lol.

The ego displays of the very wealthiest people is really something to witness.

Yes i'm aware of the quote and understood her point but thank you for the lesson professor. I was responding more to the thread OP and wasn't refuting her post in any way. She also liked my post so seems she got the point and you missed it entirely. :)

Musk is saying that SF is a messed up place these days. He didn't really say why that's the case, so I don't understand why you think he missed any point, other than you seem to enjoy insulting people you simply dislike. I added reasons why SF is the way it is. If you think Musk or myself are wrong here use your big boy words and refute the points with logic or evidence. Yeah Musk is a dick but that doesn't make him wrong here (ad hominem).

For a smug snobby Brit who thinks they're smarter than everyone else and pretends to be so "sophisticated" you've been childishly aggressive and condescending towards me even though i've never been towards you before this began. It's just weird. If you don't like me just come out and say it instead of these cowardly passive aggressive snipes. Otherwise stick to the topic and leave the insults back in junior high.
