It's not sound and the material making the 'sound' hasn't fallen into the black hole. When a black hole feeds on its accretion disc, the magnetic field associated with the disc gets all twisted up and produces bursts of bright X-ray light that bounce and echo off the infalling gas. Using observations from NASA's Kepler space telescope, ground-based instruments, and the European Space Agency's XMM-Newton satellite, the scientists turned this flickering light into sound.
