Prior to the 1960s-1970s polyamory was primarily prevalent within cult-like organizations where a chief-like male subjected multiple women to his whim. Then came the sexual revolution, a trial of breaking the norms of family units. The hippie-era was ended with a frazzling out, a burn-out essentially, although some hippie-like communities did form, others gave up and allowed prior mechanisms of the economic system to dictate their lives, because it was easier then eating out of garbage cans and searching for roaches on the beach.
You saw several waves of feminism, which eventually led to females being as efficient as males in the workplace and academia, often by adopting patriarchal sternness and competitive drive. They had to contend when they were being attacked as 'sluts' and 'prove themselves to the men' in the same way another man had to 'prove himself to the men' in order to garner respect.
But today we see this new resurgence of polyamory as a valid norm and it seems to me something altogether different; and unlike the thought as suggested by thinkers like Wilhelm Reich in the 60s that sexual freedom would lead to Marxian revolution; it seems rather that todays polyamory is rooted rather in a persons perceived right to have everything they may desire. It seems rather apolitical, without considerations of control and power applied to the dynamics of the relationships. Where the two indivduals have both potentially experienced dis-satisfaction in monogamous relationships and determined to live their lives where they are willing to never deny the physiological imperative to find beauty in multiple objects. They are often ethical in this regard, and place values such as honesty and trust (even when divulging feelings of jealousy and resentment) as foremost for the sincerity of all their relationships.
Certainly there are those who will be led to attempt polyamorous relationships that were never cut out for it, but there were in the past presumably many who led monogamous lives and were clearly not cut out for it.
What i wonder is; do you think that polyamory will become the dominant mode of human relationships and if so, do you think this will in anyway effect the economic system as nuclear families no longer act as the primary example of how one should live. Or do you think that polyamorous adherents will only ever be a minority segment of society? is polyamory harmless?

its logical as more and more we are heading through the Apocalypse that people will behave more and more deviant, even now decadence is norm but still havent consumed all, probably when the infamous n'w'o will be introduced and the Christian values get banned surely people will get more and more weird, one side effect of that will be polyamory and polygamy above all trend now in motion through public swinging clubs, mood that even now lead to the marxian deep poetry suggested in the next thread where in the last post is derived point about cultural marxism with its strive for dismantling the christian values through pushing sexual revolution ...

the problem in this context lies in the unsafe promiscuous lifestyle that would be norm on west thus more and more hiv infected hippies, so unlike the restrain present among arabs eg. americans could never achieve such respect mids polygamy but will end up in perverse thus more ill and death people what from current capitalistic aspect is not feasible as strive for human resources, maybe this could be avoided by automatization or eventual hiv vaccine, but finally as abomination even such thing became trend it will provoke mass loss of Grace and as reflex greater evil upon the world eg. deluge et. alike natural or anthropological disasters in which case tribalism will surface instantly and in such circumstances polyamory and polygamy will be some minor occurrence or maybe will pop up elite sex slave harems, actually depending of the dystopian vibe anything is possible!?
