The UN's Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), reports an accelerated pace of Israeli demolitions of Palestinian homes and other buildings in recent months. "Since the beginning of 2016, the Israeli forces have destroyed or dismantled 323 homes and other structures across the West Bank, the vast majority in Area C [over 60% of the West Bank], displacing almost 440 Palestinians. More than half of those displaced were children. Almost 1,700 other people lost structures related to their sources of income. Roughly one third of the structures targeted so far this year (108) were provided as humanitarian assistance to families in need. These are some of the highest levels of demolition and displacement recorded in a similar time frame since 2009."

About a sixth of the occupied West Bank has been designated "firing zones" for the military and Palestinians are routinely forbidden so-called planning permission from the occupiers of their homeland.

On Monday, the foreign ministers of the European Union’s 28 member states called on Israel to allow the Palestinians to develop Area C of the West Bank in a statement it issued after its Foreign Affairs Council meeting. It also warned that actions against the Palestinians, such as "demolitions and confiscation -- including of EU funded projects" were an obstacle to peace.
