Australia’s puerile and provocative war-mongering towards China is raising the risk of all-out military conflict

Instead of seeking to engage in pragmatic dialogue – and recognising that China is a major world power while Australia isn’t – politicians in Canberra seem determined to indulge themselves in macho acts of aggression.

Australia’s relationship with China has been in a state of crisis for the past year, and relations have degenerated even further over the past two weeks – despite attempts by China to ease tensions.

Last week, Wang Xining, the Chinese deputy head of mission in Australia, took the unprecedented step of appearing at the National Press Club in Canberra to speak and answer questions at a forum about Australia’s current “China crisis.”
Unfortunately, the federal government’s response to Wang’s attempt to reopen meaningful dialogue has been characterised by the same Cold War rhetoric, arrogance and ineptitude that created the crisis in the first place.
Australian Home Affairs Secretary Michael Pezzullo (who is slated to become the new secretary of the Department of Defense) delivered an Anzac Day message to his staff.
In the context of referring to escalating tensions over Taiwan, Pezzullo opined that “the drums of war” were beating and that Australia must be prepared “to send off, yet again, our warriors to fight.” He asserted that Australia must become “armed, strong and ready for war” and lavishly praised the rabid Cold War warrior, General Douglas MacArthur.
It would be difficult to imagine a more irresponsible or inflammatory statement than this, or a more dangerous evocation of Cold War rhetoric.

Last week, the Chinese Foreign Ministry issued a statement saying: “We urge Australia to set aside its Cold War mentality and ideological bias, and view bilateral cooperation in an objective and rational light”.

Unfortunately, no one in the Australian government appeared to be listening.

There would be no win against China, short or long term.
That's the reality that the present US hegemon and vassals refuse to accept.
Australia is set to lose all of the trade deals with China which will reduce their standard of living dramatically.
Tearing up the agreements with China will earn them praise from the U.S. but at a tremendous cost to their economy.
If they get involved in a war with China or even support the US there will just be kangaroos living in Australia after that.

I've changed my mind in regards to your posts, keep them coming! Part terrifying, part enlightening, part amusing. ;)

Western nations (Australia being so far West they're actually East ) are hypocrites, focusing on human rights when it serves a political interest. We should be shouting about Yemen, about a man-made famine that could become the worst the world has seen in decades. Supporting the Saudi regime in the conflict, because the devil you know is better than the devil you don't.

You won't convince anyone on this board with your rhetoric but I admire your persistence.

See no evil. Hear no evil. Know no evil.

Thank you for your support

Anglo mentality is always one of brutal action when confronted with something that they do not understand. they seek to dominate in order to bring perceived meaning to their self-designated righteous superiority. This is yet another such fine example. The west has no clue how to answer to China and have embarked on an ancient old tradition of propagating war and destruction. They know that china is outmaneuvering them at every corner, and they do so with class, peace, and resolve. This approach is not only portrayed as alien in substance but also as unacceptable by the west who needs all to play according to their rules of might (as they see themselves despite the dire and rapidly degrading condition of their societies) is right. they need and want China to play by their books in order to be able to contain china through their own, and only known, tactic and method of conducting war as the only solution to a problem. the western psyche has not evolved a bit despite coming into contact with so many various cultures, from which they could have learned so much, over the span of centuries.

Mother Britain and her two wayward children out to paint the world red (no pun intended), with the other two kids soon to join. 5 eyes maybe, but definitely one body, one mind and one all encompassing non-elected deep state government.
The intention are clear.
The 5 eyes (maybe 3 in reality) intend to blockade China and hold the country to ransom. They sneaking up into position because the general public would riot if they got wind of the plan and they hoping to push China to react first to justify its intentions while everything is in place to retaliate with force, hoping for a quick win game over. Too late for the public to react to the madness.
Well it will end badly because these people only talk to each other and don't understand the reality around them.
