Taiwan has been socially more libertarian than and economically left of China since Lee Teng-hui (the trojan horse of the anti-fascist movement...Take that KMT Mainlander fascists) took over the Presidency and subsequent liberal reforms by both Lee and Chen.

To suggest that China is not a capitalistic nation is ignorant and wrong. A nation as socialistic as China is alleged to be would not be supported by Neoconservative Republians, turd way "Democrats" (Savage is a jerk, but the third/turd thing is priceless, even though I disagree with the way he used it.), and France's centre-right establishment. Conversely, if Taiwan were as capitalistic as some claimed it is, it would not enjoy the support of Canada's NDP, Nancy Pelosi, Paul Wellstone, and Bernie Sanders.

Workers in Taiwan have the right to organise and the right to strike when they are treated unfairly. The Chinese government, at the beck and call of foreign multinationals demanding cheap labour (Wal-Mart is the most obvious), gives workers no such rights. Taiwan is also light-years ahead of China in terms of gay rights, religious freedom, free press, democracy (obviously), and a number of other characteristics that make a nation whose dignity true progressives should be rallying to refend

Also of note is the fact that many Taiwanese-owned multinationals are pro-China because they want both the large market and cheap labour that China has to offer.

Let's hope that in the end, Orwell will be wrong, and the Snowballs (Sun Yat-sen, the anti-KMT centre-leftists, and Taiwan's past two presidents) will defeat the farmers (Taiwan's fascist opposition coalition) and the Napoleans (The ultimate result of marrying totalitarianism with China's leftist revolution, thanks to Mao and his cronies, and the final transformation of pigs into farmers, reflecting the capitalistic reforms of Deng and Jiang.)
