Many people who have some general knowledge about Nazi Germany usually have at least one Nazi party member that catches their interest. Whether it be Speer's architecture, von Stauffenberg's involvement in Operation: Valkyrie, Rommel's command of his troops, Himmler's command of the SS, etc. I am not advocating putting those most responsible for the Holocaust on a pedestal but to find out which Nazi party member(s) interest people on here from a purely historical-appreciation approach.

Personally, I would have to say Albert Speer. For those that don't know, he was Nazi Germany's chief architect and is known for many great works, probably the most notable being the Zeppelinfield in Nuremberg.

Josef Goebbels. He was an amoral, arrogant womaniser, but his ideas about the nature and uses of propaganda were decades ahead of their time.

Albert Speer was technically and intellectual a very interesting person, but his political instincts, his dedication to the Führer and that he was buyable trough his projects disqualify him for this position.

Since PoFo is an international forum and he was treated badly by the allies and is still ignored, i would take Alber Goering. But the list is really so long....

While perhaps not formally a Nazi Chiang Wei-kuo is a kind of interesting cat. He's kind of the definitive face on fascism being a means to stop communism in a lot of ways.

If the Chinese Nationalists had won the Civil War, Chiang Wei-kuo might have amounted to something. As things turned out, he was a loser, one of history's might-have-beens. And there's no shortage of those.

Otto Strasser, for writing a book which showed just how utterly hypocritical and amoral the Nazi leadership was.

Otto Strasser is one if not the intellectual fathers of Neo-Nazism...

Hardly any of the Neo-Nazis seem at all keen on him, if they have actually heard of him. Plus, his anti-militarism, anti-Prussianism, Christen morality, Europeanism and typical utopian Socialist style would bore and confuse most modern nazis.

Now Yockey or Rockwell, now they are the intellectual fathers of Neo-Nazism.

Not over here. In Germany he had a very big influence towards Neo-Nazism, because he gave them the ideology that allowed the Neo-Nazis to distance themself and their ideology from the wrongdoings of Hitler. In this way they are able to state, that of course Hitler was a bad guy and did bad things, but the idea behind it was good and he did in fact some good things etc...

I find Goebbels the most interesting... disabled, ugly, mouseish, "Jew-like," brilliant propagandist and hatemonger, he seems to have been by the far the most intelligent Nazi who really believed in the insane grandness of the project (unlike Speer, Schacht or Guderian, who were also brilliant but more opportunistic technocrats than true believers).

PS: Italian Fascists were pretty interesting too. Galeazzo Ciano, Mussolini's son-in-law and foreign minister, was intelligent and an often very sensible counter-weight to his boss's blustering.

Is Charles Lindbergh an option?

Afaik C.Lindbergh wasn't a member of the NSDAP.

Why Darré? He was a plain mediocre Nazi, with different ideas concerning the implementation of the Blood & Soil theory, due to his job as agricultural minister iirc.

Lindbergh was a German nationalist rather than a Nazi. He may have expressed racist or authoritarian views occasionally, but in those days almost everyone was a racist, even liberals.

Maybe I am mad or maybe in this fucked up and confusing world I am the only sane one. Who knows and who cares?

Anyway the OP is like asking who is your favourite serial killer or what is your favourite pile of diarrhoea so the answers will always point to something distasteful - except for pussies who will say "Oskar Schindler is mine because he saved the Jews". Pfft! I take the OP to mean the fellas you read up about and say "Fuck me! Could you be any more sicker?" and then you look up some more things to find out if the first source is in anyway wrong.

And yes, he is my favourite and yes I did name a cat after him.

Indeed. I made it clear in the OP that it is from a purely Historian perspective and not an ideological one. It was basically asking who peaks your interest the most, even have you read up on them further.
