I like hamburgers and french fries, steak and eggs, salmon and bake potato with sour cream and butter, a bowl of chili with tomato ketchup and crackers, supreme beef tacos, and yellow cake with chocolate icing and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side. Not all these at one meal, in case you think I am a big eater. I don't much care for Japanese or Chinese food.

The 35-day partial shutdown of the US government cost about $11bn and shaved 0.2% off the nation’s annual economic growth forecasts, the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office said on Monday.

According to the CBO the shutdown hurt economic growth because it affected roughly 800,000 workers and delayed federal spending on goods and services.

I heard that, too. $11- Billion, of which, $3 billion will never be recovered all to pay for that wall that, you know, Mexico was going to pay for. By the way, what happened to those tariffs that were also supposed to pay for it? In fact, why is he even asking congress for it? Hummmmm :?:

Propaganda manipulating numbers. My guess is it is based upon this money not being spent. That is misleading. The people still needed to spend it even if they used a credit card, or got temporary government assistance.

The Democrats could have saved all that by just approving $5.7 billion for border security.

The fault is Mary Anne's and Fred's. They never told their toddler how to behave, he had to learn it from a 78-year-old woman.
Let's see if Pelosi can also show him how not to pee on his bed.

Let's see what happens to Pelosi in two years.

I think the problem is they think the wall is going to fix what is wrong with this society. Social mobility is dead in the water. Barely 7.5% of people move out of their socioeconomic class. This young woman talking about financial schemes draws some logical conclusions about finances in the USA.

A lot of myths full of days gone by when the rich were taxed 90% and above in the sixties and fifties. Now? The rich don't pay much and everyone else is in deep debt. It is bad.

That wall fight didn't help the economy either.

Pelosi was obviously designated by God to stand like an impenetrable wall ( ) between an incompetent psychotic egomaniac and the destruction of American democracy. She has so far demonstrated that she is smarter and tougher by far than her thoroughly confused adversary.

Have you forgotten that Pelosi called a wall immoral? It is clear to me that she is being helped by the Devil.

Trump is clearly helped by ignorance, the root and stem of all evil, whereas Pelosi only has a steak hammer she can masterfully use.

In the conservative mind, socialism means getting something for doing nothing. That pretty much describes the $21bn saved by the nation’s largest banks last year thanks to Trump’s tax cuts, some of which went into massive bonuses for bank executives. On the other hand, more than 4,000 lower-level bank employees got a big dose of harsh capitalism. They lost their jobs.

When he was in business, Trump perfected the art of using bankruptcy to shield himself from the consequences of bad decisions – socialism for the rich at its worst – while leaving employees twisting in the wind.

Around 60% of America’s wealth is now inherited. Many of today’s super-rich have never done a day’s work in their lives. Trump’s response has been to cut the estate tax to apply only to estates valued at over $22m per couple. America is on the cusp of the largest inter-generational wealth transfer in history. As rich boomers expire over the next three decades, an estimated $30tn will go to their children.

After a few generations of this, almost all of the nation’s wealth will be in the hands of a few thousand non-working families. To the conservative mind, the specter of socialism conjures up a society in which no one is held accountable, and no one has to work for what they receive. Yet that’s exactly the society Trump and the Republicans are promoting for the rich.

Meanwhile, most Americans are subject to an increasingly harsh and arbitrary capitalism in which they’re working harder but getting nowhere, and have less security than ever.

That is the mind of the liberals, not conservatives. Conservatives never state that you can get something for doing no work. The liberals vote for any socialist program because they believe they will be the ones getting something for nothing. They think socialism will give them free healthcare, free college education, guaranteed living expenses for those that can't work as well as those unwilling to work. That is the AOC socialist plan.

that's very nice. now how about the .01% of the billionaire monied class who get a life on easy street and contribute nothing back to the nation that provided for them a system in which to prosper? they are paying off the politicians to rig the system in their favor, laughing all the way to their (Swiss) bank and doing dick for America.

I am not one of those .01% billionaires, so I can't speak for them. But besides the politicians that may benefit from the super wealthy, I suspect that all wealthy people spend a lot of their wealth to buy goods and services, which benefits those that provide those goods and services.
