The two bleaching events were the worst in recorded history, leading to a catastrophic die-off in many regions of the 3,800 individual reefs that comprise the world’s largest reef system.” Your grandkids may never see a real coral reef. Technically I don't think he is wrong, but politics is about people, and that involves inferior people if their votes are counted as equals.

Therefore, making a technically correct point sometimes does not help matters. One needs to take the people who are against one's ideal into consideration in order to ensure their point is as flawless as possible.

Air pollution may be damaging every organ and virtually every cell in the human body, according to a comprehensive new global review.

The research shows head-to-toe harm, from heart and lung disease to diabetes and dementia, and from liver problems and bladder cancer to brittle bones and damaged skin. Fertility, foetuses and children are also affected by toxic air, the review found.

The systemic damage is the result of pollutants causing inflammation that then floods through the body and ultrafine particles being carried around the body by the bloodstream.

Air pollution is a “public health emergency”, according to the World Health Organization, with more than 90% of the global population enduring toxic outdoor air. New analysis indicates 8.8m early deaths each year – double earlier estimates – making air pollution a bigger killer than tobacco smoking. Prof Dean Schraufnagel, at the University of Illinois at Chicago and who led the reviews, said: “I wouldn’t be surprised if almost every organ was affected. If something is missing [from the review] it is probably because there was no research yet.”

“The best way to reduce exposure is to control it at its source,” said Schraufnagel. Most air pollution comes from burning fossil fuels to generate electricity, heat homes and power transport.

I call these things "weather bombs" and they represent how global warming is being manifested. You won't particularly feel any warmer but global warming is disrupting the upper level jet streams from their usual patterns. This will result in increased clashes between hot and cold air and their resulting "weather bombs" occurring with greater frequency. This result we can see today. Rising sea levels resulting from artic melt will take a bit linger to become obvious. Global warming deniers have already been relegated to the back of the class room to be seated next to the flat earthers. They will, predictably, say that "weather bombs" have always been with us. This is true. It is also true that they are becoming more frequent and harsher. In the matter of weather, I prefer to go with factual data rather than the fossil fuel lobbyist financed hot air emanating from Republicans and "conservatives".
