Yea, these aren't bad rules. I approve.

I learned this one the hard way.

I'VE HAD IT UP TO HERE! (raise hand as high as possible) WITH THAT WOMAN'S PARENTS!!!  :( :*(

And male centric, but still cute. Wouldn’t mind seeing a list directed at daughters. Most posters here would have convulsions :p

A lot of that can easily be adapted to be more neutral. I would agree this is really more of a "Rules to teach your son" sort of thing.

Where did you find them? Who carries hankies these days?

I find the one about not entering the pool by the stairs intriguing. I want to know why.

Nobody would ever remember the half of them, though I will always remember that one.

As a mother of daughters I told them having sex with whomever they fancied didn't make them sluts, and conversely refusing to have sex with fat spotty Herberts didn't make them frigid and anyone who tried to tell them different was a berk and best avoided.

Most of the advice I gave them was about dealing with boys and then men, who are a big pain and can be a lot of hard work that is seldom worth it.

But when it is worth it, it's really, really worth it.

The upshot of it is that I have three daughters who have never once locked themselves in their bedrooms wailing about some bastard who's let them down.

@noemon Good rules, overall, even if the Hankie one is a bit old-fashioned. ;)

17...Definitely. I wouldn't be where I am now, if I hadn't done that. :D 14, of course, came along with that...

I'd add:
35. Never be afraid to apologize. It takes strength to admit when you are wrong.

36. Don't burn your bridges.

- Social media is not a comprehensive substitute for a social life

- There is no such thing as having too much money

- Be the best you can, screw equality

- Be happy even if it makes you poor; don't stay in a well paid job that you hate

- If you earn a lot then spend a lot, if you don't then don't

- Eat more meat, eat less vegetables, and throw away the carbs

- Never save up fake leaky money, if you save make sure it is something with enduring value

- Don't get yourself into an ideology, ideology is just an euphemism for brain damage

- If you don't consent to be governed then any attempts to govern you are crime.

- Self-defence is the only moral basis for imposing on another

- Playing games is the best education because life is war

I carry handkerchiefs.

They are usually cut up receiving blankets for babies, which are absorbent, soft, and can be washed and dried in the machine.

Good for the environment and you save money.

Really haven't thought about these things much, But the two rules I constantly remember that did help alot were ones my uncle Hussein told me when I was entering adulthood.
Best translation I can come up with;

Don't bring city speak to the mountains, and don't take mountain speak to the city.

And never pick a fight you don't need to fight, especially with women.

:p

 at SSDr's list. Just because you had a shit family experience, does not mean this applies to everyone. Normally, families are supportive.

Listing off rules as "capitalist" is just as dumb. :knife:

Most of your rules are selfish and cynical. Admin Edit: Rule 2 Violation

The world has beauty in it, and on the hard days, it takes an effort to see it but it is worth it.

Some things are rigged, but you can still win against them. It just takes a lot more work.

People often lie, but you do not have to spend time with those people. Surround yourself with honest people.
