The problem is that most countries just don't seem to give a fuck. People expect countries like the United States to buck up and solve this problem, but that's not our job, nor should it be. If the planet is fucked up, we're not the only ones who fucked it up, nor should we be the only ones to try to rectify it.
Personally, I think it's a bit egotistical of us to believe we're capable of destroying the planet. It was around for a long fuckin' time before we showed up, and it'll be here for a long fuckin' time after we're gone. It's certainly handled more than we could ever hope to throw at it...
