Red_Army wrote:Your whole thing is speculation and completely ignores the material reasons people have for voting for Bernie. The need for healthcare hasn't diminished because people have already heard about it @Rancid.

His playbook on healthcare is known now. This is my point. With this information about hum, other candidates can easily dilute his message on healthcare by basically saying the same or similar things that he say's. They now have intel on him, so they can now undercut him.

Does this really not make any sense to you? At least a little bit? You really think there is nothing valid about what I'm saying above? Not even a little bit valid? :hmm:

Bernie isn't the only person claiming to be able to fix healthcare. If he were the only candidate talking about healthcare, and 100% of voters cared about this as their main issue for voting, you might have a point, but this isn't the case.

Colleges and universities are bloated and grossly inefficient and offer degrees that are useless in the private sector but could meet the BA/BS degree requirement of some government jobs--like Asian Studies, Black Studies, Women's Studies, etc. Utterly pointless and useless degrees that saddle the holder with immense debt while more or less labelling them as "dummy" simultaneously. What we should be doing is suing colleges and universities for consumer fraud. Colleges and universities are corporations. They are businesses. The fact that many of them do not turn a profit does not mean that they do not engage in the same sorts of frauds as other businesses. Students need to have the same protections against predatory colleges and their often worthless products/services as consumers have consumer protections against unscrupulous car and insurance salesmen or stockbrokers. It's outrageous that such expensive products/services are offered to the public with no consumer protections whatsoever.

Nice troll Blackjack. Way to inculcate your usual racist do whistling into the post. Also.

One. The reason students are not treated like consumers is that they are not consumers. They are welfare recipients to the colleges. There is absolutely no reason for colleges and universities be more efficient. None. Why? Because the US government will simply subsidize anything the colleges want to charge and expect the students to pay it back later. And where do these interest payments go?

Two. Student loans constitute a 1.5 trillion dollar stimulus to the economy. The total student loan debt is....wait for it....half a trillion dollars more than the US entire credit card debt!

Three. We have far more college graduates than we need. Full stop. It is not so much about what they are majoring in as it is about fixing what is wrong with high schools. High school students today are certainly in possession of much more information than we were in my day. Schools have not changed much in that regard. What has changed is that in my day, if you were to know something, you had to do it analog. Not only did we have access to less information, you had to commit it to memory or go through the whole onerous analog study game to get it back. Not so today. I have in my pocket, instant access to more information that all of the high school and college libraries in the country had 1969. And I even have, in my pocket, a fairly efficient method of sorting trough all of that bullshit. So. Much of that stuff we learned in College is now simply common knowledge available for free to anyone who wants to have it.

Anyway. I like Biden. I agree with Rancid that Bernie has shot his bolt. Nice as he is, and so filled with pathos even yet, he is very much like Rand Paul. As I said once about Australia...It is like my dick. Everybody knows its down there but nobody cares.

The democrats can certainly loose to Trump. It would not be hard at all. Which candidate can beat him? All of the. Any one of them. But. The democratic party has a marvelous history of circular firing squads. They run really hard left, going after guns, praising a pro-abortion agenda and seeming to forget all about that tiny little block of insignificant voters called "working and middle class white people". Then someone snags the nomination and has to run to beat hell to get back to the middle. And in the process of their hard left run for the nomination they have handed the republicans all of the sound bites they need to cast any one of them as Leon Trotsky. And to fail, as did Trotsky, because these far left ideas are simply not in the best interests of the people. (Or at best gives the impression that they are being ignored.)

If the democrats were smart (and they are not particularly smart) they would run a real centrist right at Trump fatigue. They would ridicule him but but not his supporters. They would run a the Trump voters and the others will follow. What choice do they have otherwise?

@Rancid, your point would make sense if all of the candidates besides Sanders weren't practically identical, but since they are his campaign is not the spent force you're claiming it to be. My guess is that you're getting these takes from the horde of centrist Democrats who hate Bernie for his new deal policies and the wealth redistribution that will come with them, but are too intellectually dishonest to admit that so they make points like yours that rely on the elect-ability nonsense that lost them the race last time.

edit: To prove my point that this logic is just anti-Sanders biased reporting disguised an objective reason not to support Sanders: Biden has been running for president for the last 40 years and you didn't make this argument about him.

Biden is someone that Jewish supremacists can trust. He's a reliable uncle tom Gentile. But at the same time he makes all the right noises about Muslims and Blacks.

I think we can all tell at this point that Joe is not going to beat Trump. As the stress mounts, his gaffes and things like the bleeding eye will only get worse.

The next closest candidate is Elizabeth Warren. Having promised an executive order to ban fracking etc. on day one, she probably has even less of a chance of winning than Biden.

I've written this many times but IMHO, the far left is clinging to political positions that can only end badly, one way or another and this means that no matter what happens, they're gong to be angry. No one is serving their own long-term happiness by choosing such things.

Regarding the DNC primaries, it's only getting worse from here. People who support the Green New Deal simply can't get elected. Hillary and Biden have the saving grace of having people plausibly think that they're lying, which is an unenviable advantage. The younger candidates probably won't get such a benefit of the doubt.

Was their a single commentator who predicted that Trump would lose the Popular vote but win the College in 2016? I remember that there were a number of Conservative cretins that predicted that Trump would win the popular vote.

Biden is corrupt as hell. Even if he gets the nomination and somehow pulls of winning the presidency, his first term is going to be mired in scandal and impeachment. What comes around goes.

Looks more like Warren to me right now, but the question is what is going to be left from her battle with Bernie, they are pretty much the same candidate except Warren struggles to get black voter support. .

Don't count out Hillary from entering the race yet.

I don't believe Biden ever created a fervor around himself though. In a sense, people like Sanders, Ron Paul, and Trump created (intentionally or not) a cult of personality. These are the type of people I'm applying my thesis to. Biden would not be included.

I'm talking about people that have a meteoric rise in their political profile. Obama is example of the case it was sucessful, he got elected in his first go around. My thesis would say that had Obama not been elected on his first try, he would have never become president.

Of course, this is all speculation (isn't it fun to speculate?). Like I said, I think this phenomenon is worth someone researching properly.

Of course not.

Idiot talking heads at CNN, MSNBC, etal were too busy congratulating Clinton for her win months before the election that they proved themselves to be too fucking stupid to see that there was no way she would win...

This is just about right. Blackjack21 and I called the election on POFO beforehand. Actually quite a few people did but the media missed it entirely. The victory should not have been a surprise if one was paying attention to the masterful gerrymandering and targeted coalition building the republicans had done.

At this point in history, the "best" candidate (according to the powers that be) is a giant nothing-candidate who has been hanging out with 'the gang' for years.

Hillary was this kind of candidate as well.

Obama was a same-old-gang sidekick - with added "identity politics" - which allowed media to suggest he had super-powers in his skin pigment.

If the media can find a submissive-enough female drone candidate, it will suggest she has super-powers in her breasts.

It is very disappointing shit Q. All the liberals and the conservatives and none of them do any real changes.

find all of it very disappointing Q. Some boring liberals and some 'radical' conservatives brainwashed folk. Those are the choices. It is horrible.

Biden reminds me of Michel Martelly - a pop singer with USA connections - was appointed president of Haiti while it was being occupied by several powerful Western countries.

I thought: "Just what Haiti needs to fix its very complicated economic problems: a bar entertainer who loves white money."

Trump is on the same level as Michel Martelly, and so is Joe Biden.

I'm more like sharing ideas and looking for refinement.

I'm not damning Bernie per say. Just saying that the establishment will bury him in noise.

Old crazy Bernie is just too much of a socialist for me. That beautiful lady from Hawaii sounds reasonable to me, but that does not work with the liberal Democrats of today.

Did you catch the detail after the big earthquake in Haiti?

The exiled (by whom) former president of Haiti who'd been living in South Africa flew in and his plane was prohibited from landing. (By who? The US of course.)

Haiti is evidentially a US 'territory' (US Territory is of course a euphemism for US Colony.)
