Thanks to the Electoral College, a few people, in a handful of states, pick the president.

With foreign help, and sophisticated propaganda, Republicans are trying to rig the election so they can win. Trump will get 4 to 6 million fewer votes this time. But manipulating a few hundred thousand badly educated voters could let him cheat his way to a corrupt win.

I strongly suspect the election was over more than a year before the first person has a chance to actually vote.

If so, democracy is dead. Someone will need to make funeral arrangements.

Actually, the opposite is true. The Electoral College keeps only a handful of State from deciding who the President will be...

In every other election, the winner is the person that gets the most votes.

But then, your do want to kill democracy. You won't admit it, but your posts send a clear message concerning your intent.

Btw, I've got a couple dozen intel agencies (17 are ours) that told me about my little conspiracy theory...

Then it should be easy peazey to prove it.

Oh wait, you can't.

"The real concerns for Democrats, they said, could be found in a combination of gerrymandering and voter suppression tactics that might have prevented them from winning an even larger majority in the House and some key statewide elections.

“The rise of minority rule in America is now unmistakable,” said Laurence Tribe, a constitutional law professor at Harvard University.

“Especially with a sitting president who won a majority in the electoral college [in 2016] while receiving roughly 3m fewer votes than his opponent, and a supreme court five of whose nine justices were nominated by Republican presidents who collectively received fewer popular votes than their Democratic opponents and were confirmed by Senates similarly skewed.”

Since you won't understand that, it means Republicans cheat their ass off. And now they're cheating with Putin's help. Which is crazy.

I have proven that it in my initial response. The Democrats can not win on policy for the foreseeable future so you want to change the rules by which all elections have occurred in our country. Would the Dems be gerrymandering if they had power, would the Dems change the rules of the Senate when they have power? Of course they would. The Dems simple do not have good candidates nor policys nor results despite the fact they tried rig the last election. The Dems had the media and the deep state and entrenched partisan bureaucrats and they still could not win. The Democrats have failed at all levels and they know it, and that is why they need to cheat lie and try to change the rules to rig the system.

Then you don't know what a proof is. You failed to supply a shred of evidence. Evidence on Republican corruption can be found in massive quantities.

Let's cut to the chase, shall we?

Prof Tribe got it right, what we have is minority rule. That's kinda the opposite of democracy.

Btw, if you look at polls, Americans, in some polls even Republicans, favor policies that Dems want.

And while you say Dems can't win, we had a Blue Wave in the last election, despite Republican cheating.

Which is why they are cheating even harder now.

What policies are those?

Open borders?

And while you say Dems can't win, we had a Blue Wave in the last election, despite Republican cheating.

More whining... it's funny sometimes...

This your thread whining about how the United State has chosen their president. You haven't made any case other than you hate rules especially when you can't win at them. You can change the rules by the system just get an amendment to the constitution but then again those pesky rules are in the way.

Again its your thread can you elaborate in more detail than "you just saying so" that the Republicans cheat.

I did, and many of my posts have gone into detail about different aspects of this.

You aren't seeing what you don't want to see.

But I will repeat the bottom line, we have minority rule, and that's not democracy.

Can you direct me to some of those? Like I said my fist post stands.

I happen to believe in the constitution. Your ilk can try to change it anytime you like within the rules. Other than that I don't believe you have made much of an argument here.

Please spare us this nonsense. Voters in the United States have far more loyalty to party than they do to their State. American States do not have a collective will. This was different at the time of the Civil War, when voters had greater loyalty to State than party. American Conservatives have gained form this anachronism is recent decades, so they engage in some pathetic attempt to portray the current constitutional settlement as guided by some higher principle.

I'm sure most hard line Californian conservatives would be quite happy for California to get 0 votes in the electoral college, as most hard line Wyoming liberals would be happy for Wyoming to get 0 votes.

Could you explain further about how people who live in a state are not loyal to the state. Not sure your point here.

It has yet to get out of bed.

What you have is a completely unsupported assertion. There is Democratic corruption, but it can't hold a candle compared to what Republicans are doing.

I have done dozens of posts about Republican cheating, Redmap, Red State, voter suppression, gerrymandering, disenfranchising voters, closing voting places in poor Black areas, Republicans are never not in court trying to defend their corrupt schemes to kill democracy.

You want power, and the cost to the country simply isn't a concern.

I didn't start this topic you did. You have failed to make any point or armament other than a complaint. Feel free to make a fact based argument. My point stands we have a system, its worked for every presidential election. The electoral system comes into play only when Democrats are losing power for the foreseeable future, the last 2 elections Bush and Trump the Democrats refuse to accept the results. Democrats would do away with elections if they could. They can't make a case to the American voter to change the constitution so all you have right now is bitching and whining. Its simple get a candidate and policies that are electable. The Democrat party is in real trouble right now because we have a president who is moving the bar so high in terms of making good on campaign promises. Seriously, what have Democrats accomplished in the last 12 years? Pandering identity politics?

So the problem for the EU is that people do strongly identify with the constituent states. Given the chance to vote for European representatives, people vote for the British Conservative Party, the French Socialist Party, the Czech ANO 2011 and the German Greens. They don't vote for the European Conservative Party, the European Socialist Party, the European Liberal Party or the European Green Party. There is continual manoeuvring to balance the interests and the personal of the different countries.

The USA on the other hand is a nation divided by ideology and to a lesser extent by race. it is not really divided by State, much as Americans like to play up their State's peculiarities. If the Republicans stood a Californian in 2020 the State would still vote Democrat by a massive margin. The same goes if the Democrats stood a south Dakotan, it would still vote Republican.
