What do you think he means by saying that humans are now being God like in terms of creating and designing their own worlds?

What do you think human beings roles are into the future?

"We are as gods, we might as well get good at it." Stewart Brand

If you grabbed a guy from a few thousand years ago, and brought him here, what would he see? He'd see us flying, and even going into what he would call the heavens. He'd see that our weapons could obliterate nations. If that isn't godlike, what is. He'd see we could transform the Earth in a hundred ways.

He would think we were gods, or at least demi-gods.

If we stop committing suicide, we will have to do more godlike stuff just to fix part of what we've screwed up.

More generally, it's a holistic approach. We've always been tribal. To survive we must organise globally. It's going to happen, when the technology makes a larger organisation possible it usually happens.

So we can create a democratic government, or let some despot do it for us.

I've just started the video. I am pretty sure I will have some bones to pick with this guy, but I need to finish it first.

He is very interesting. I read all of his books. Cover to cover. I disagree with a few. But most of what he says is spot on.

A great historian he is.

One thing I do think he gets right and he is a very powerful analyzer and is highly respected in military history. Which is interesting because he states that wars are going to be very counterproductive in the future. Which they will be.

He also stated that only nationalists deny climate change because socialists are people who understand what has to happen to move the society forward and stark nationalists don't understand that the push is for multiple layers of loyalty. Not just to your own nation? But to other societies and that you can expand out more loyalties and to expand in being concerned and working hard in interrelated internationalist pacts and contracts. It can't be local anymore. He understands quite well what the historical context is going to look like @late. Nationalism is not going to cut it. No matter how much they want things to be that way....the cat is out of the bag....Capitalism has forced a change or evolution out of nationalistic small stuff. It has to push off into more ties with other places and it is forcing internationalist ties to be strengthened, due to the conditions of life...and civilizations all over the globe. This is obvious to historians and anthropologists, and sociologists...but it is not to the Right and the nationalists who want a throwback of not dealing with foreign influences. Can't do that and hope to survive politically.

But? That is what needs to happen @late .
