"The Trump administration confronted a new threat Tuesday in the mounting coronavirus crisis: a fierce bipartisan backlash amid contradictory statements from the federal government about the severity of the outbreak.

Administration officials sought to swat away concerns their emergency request for $2.5 billion to address the outbreak was inadequate, even as some Republicans joined Democrats in criticizing the amount — and slamming a lack of transparency around efforts to contain the disease on U.S. soil."

President Trump said in his news conference on the covid-19 tonight that if the Congress would agree to allocate more money, it would be fine with him.
Praise the Lord.

President Trump raise tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China until they changed their ways. It worked.

Hmmmm :?: ….. the debt rose $9,000,000,000,000 under Obama.

Really? What changed? Please provide a source for this claim.

Trump got nothing in return for lifting Tariffs with Canada. You're, as usual, going only by what your mentally challenged President tells you. You're talking out of your ass, AGAIN.

Tariffs have only resulted in Trump having to bailout the farmers, to a tune of $28 billion or so. China never paid a cent of that.

Tariffs pass on the increased costs to the poor and middle class. It's essentially a tax on those who aren't rich.

Gallup: USMCA Popularity Beats Out NAFTA

Americans are feeling positive about international trade, and 80% think the new North American trade deal will be good for the economy.

FOUR IN 5 AMERICANS SAY President Donald Trump's revised North American trade agreement will be good for the U.S. economy – making it slightly more popular with the public than the original North American Free Trade Agreement when it was proposed in the early 1990s.

A Gallup report published on Wednesday found that 80% of respondents – 88% of Republicans and 73% of Democrats – view the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement favorably. Trump signed the deal last month after Democratic lawmakers negotiated greater labor and environmental protections into the accord's text, allowing it to pass through the House and Senate with bipartisan support.

President Donald J. Trump Has Secured a Historic Phase One Trade Agreement with China

As a result of President Donald J. Trump’s leadership, the United States reached a historic and enforceable phase one agreement with China that achieves progress on a number of critical fronts.

China has agreed to structural reforms in areas of intellectual property, technology transfer, agriculture, financial services, and currency and foreign exchange.

The agreement includes a strong dispute resolution system to ensure effective implementation and enforcement.

As a result, we will be able to ensure full enforcement of this phase one agreement and the reforms it includes.

As a part of this agreement, the United States has agreed to significantly modify its Section 301 tariffs.

These successful phase one negotiations have begun important progress towards rebalancing our trade relationship with China.

SECURING A TREMENDOUS VICTORY: This historic agreement is a tremendous victory for the American economy – especially American farmers, manufacturers, and innovators.

China has agreed to make substantial purchases of American manufacturing goods, agricultural products, energy products, and services, marking a monumental win for American farmers and businesses.

President Trump has experienced incredible success in negotiating better trade deals that benefit American workers and industries.

The President renegotiated NAFTA and is replacing it with the USMCA – the largest and most comprehensive trade agreement in history.

Earlier this year, the President scored a huge victory for America’s farmers and businesses by striking two new trade agreements with Japan on agricultural exports and digital trade.

The President has renegotiated the United States-Korea Free Trade Agreement, preserving American jobs and leveling the playing field for the American automobile industry.

An opinion poll doesn't demonstrate anything about success in trade deal, only what stupid Americans think about it.

There is absolutely zero evidence to suggest that his tariffs are responsible for any trade deal that the Chinese wouldn't have done anyways.

It's his own propaganda machine citing the "victory", as well. I am sure it was vetted by Trump to make sure it said the right things. :knife:

In short, you have yet to cite a source stating that the tariffs did anything but HURT Americans.

Americans paid for Trump's stupid arrogance and ignorance about tariffs and trade. The $28 billion was just the tip of the iceberg. It also hurt American reputation regarding trades and agreements, demonstrating that the US is untrustworthy. USA will pay for that, in the long run.

Yes, lies from your own media. How stupid do you have to be to ignore reality and facts?

Farmers are slamming Trump's $28 billion farm bailout — more than double Obama's 2009 payment to automakers — as a 'Band-Aid'
The president has provided $28 billion in bailouts for farmers who have been affected by the trade war over that past two years, but farmers are saying the funding isn't enough.

Davis and Born's stories aren't uncommon either. Farmers in Iowa received $973 million in direct payments in the first round of trade aid, but the trade war cost them $1.7 billion, Bloomberg said, citing data from Iowa State University.

@Hindsite You are back to your collossally stupid argument that where a person lives is an argument. So stupid! :knife:

Grow up! You have the same information I do, and so your location doesn't matter either! There's no evidence you are even an American, just a person who spouts religious bullshit and claims to think Trump is a prophet. How dumb is that? A shitty Christian is a Christian prophet?

I don't doubt that you live in Georgia, just not the one in the USA.

NAFTA didn't change much.

The history is unequivocal, tariffs are a terrible idea.

You didn't say anything relevant. NAFTA didn't change much.

The trade war with China hurt us in other areas, like cooperation dealing with North Korea.

If our trading position had actually improved, it would have results that were positive. But it didn't do a thing for the goal of bringing back manufacturing. And it had negative consequences in other areas. Like raising taxes on Americans in a regressive manner...

Your posts, as a rule, lack substance and support.

Keep going with those low, low standards.

According to modern historians, Nero is not as bad as traditional historians portrayed. They deduced that he's popular among commoners but aristocrats hated him. Christians, who won power some 250 years later, also slandered him.

On the other hand, Nero was forced to commit suicide at the end. Had he not, the senate would have executed him.

The above comparison, thus, has at least three contradicting implications:
1. Someone should imitate the end of Nero and assassinate Trump and his aides in case he wins another term.
2. Trump is not as bad as some people want us to believe.
3. The one posting this against Trump is some kind of aristocrat, upper class people, or, more accurately, whoever (feel) personally harmed by Trump administration or his policies. (This does not mean the creator or sharer is wrong -- I do think personal loss or harm is a legitimate reason to oppose somebody, at least in a democratic society where common people hold equal power)

I do not doubt you. I was simply struck by Nero fiddling while Rome burned and Donald fiddling while earth burns.

Thanks for the laugh. I've met the guy in real life, and he's not upper class, and certainly not acting aristocratic.

In 3 polls of presidential historians, each one has ranked Trump as the worst president in American history.

When nearly everyone talks about Nero, they are referring to the idea of him as a terrible and destructive ruler. Like most Americans, he thinks violence is the last refuge of the incompetent.
