annatar1914 wrote:Besides, God didn't ''replace'' Israel, but replaced who generally constitutes Israel, the Church of God. The Church has always existed, and has always been Israel, the Church of the Old Covenant and the New.

Church in New Testament Greek is ekklesia and means a called out assembly (Ek = out of, Kaleo= to call).

One of the proofs that the church was not in the Old Testament is that it began on Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4) with the disciples and the Jews that believed their message. They did not join Israel or become part of the temple, they were "called out" from that. And we become part of this same Church today the same way they did, by spirit baptism, by being born again of the Spirit.

A transition from the law to the operation of faith came by the New Covenant.

“But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed. Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.”
(Galatians 3:23-25)

After the Spirit was poured on the Jews; Paul is saved, specifically sent to a group of people God had not focused on, But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel” (Acts 9:15).

“Now the apostles and brethren who were in Judea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God.”
(Acts 11:1)

The New Testament Church is never confused with Israel, this is why it is not spoken of as continuation from the Old Testament into the New Testament. Believers do not become Jews; both gentiles and Jews participate together in the New Covenant Church.

So many misinterpretations and twistings of Scripture and half-truths... Just as He is the ''Lamb that was slain from the foundation of the world'', and ''Abraham saw this day and was glad'', so too Christ's Church was always in existence. First living and worshiping under signs and symbols of His Coming, in the expectation of the ''Desire of Nations'', then to the Church in her fulfillment, purchased with the blood of Christ and baptized in water, the Holy Spirit, and with fire..

Perhaps for one thing you've never read St. Paul's letter to the Hebrews, or if you did you did not understand it, for here you are with this same garbage i've heard all my life. I could engage in a discussion with you about it, but what good would that do? You're hardened into all your positions, only God could change that. And I am not God. I will simply say that I'm not going to have that discussion with you now. I will ask that God have mercy on you and yours, for the time is coming soon when we all will be in most need of Christ's mercy and His enlightenment.

Seems to me that you are hardened into your false position that Christ had already built His Church long before He told Peter that He would built His Church. “The word church as applied to the Christian society was first used by Jesus Himself when He told Peter, "Upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." (Matthew 16:18 KJV).
Praise the Lord.

The Rock is Christ. Faith in Christ. And we read in the Gospel of St. John from Our Lord Himself that ''Abraham saw this day and was glad'', and elsewhere in Romans 4:3 ''For what does the Scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness."

No, we're done here on this.

Obviously, Abraham saw this day in a vision. Use the brain God gave you.

Changing one's political ideology isn't easy. Take President Trump for example. Consciously (as I've said before) on an emotional level he's an Objectivist, a follower of Ayn Rand, and a Statist solution to the CoVid-19 pandemic isn't possible in that philosophy, as far as I can tell. I'm sure he's love to have the private sector take care of all this pandemic business, but politics and the media would never let him do that. It's a rearguard fight, as far as an Objectivist would see it, even getting into government unless he was there to practically demolish it. It's the same with government spending as a whole, etc...

But like the Capitalist in it's totality, as much as President Trump might like to do otherwise, the salvation of Capitalism in this as in other matters lies with the State, a temporary imposition of what these types would regard as ''Socialism''. It isn't (it's closer to the Fascist/Corpratist way of solving problems), but these matters always involve the State. There's fantasy, and then there's the reality, the State isn't going to dissolve itself, although it can collapse for sure.

I get a lot of my thoughts from actual living, not just going about on the Interwebz. Yesterday I was at an art class on campus packing up a few things for a friend when the school finally decided to go into lockdown, and I took the extra time to look at the students artwork. After a couple hours, I noticed a pattern.

Artists are kind of like the canary in the coalmine, for one thing, reflecting the common mood more than pushing it in a certain direction.

And those artists from a different sub-culture ''in'' but not ''of'' Western Civilization really strain against the cultural forms of the Faustian mindset as described by Spengler (who also looked at the Art of a Civilization rather intently). Local American Indian artists for example have no desire it seems to express the soaring infinities real or perceptual that European-American artists express quite unconsciously, the Amerindian artists are telling a story often in a ''naive'' and symbolic way, in two-dimensions often without any perception of three dimensions in their work, or merely a nod to that notion...

But in any case, universally there is an deep anxiety in these Artists work that shows through every line and color.

Is it a political or social anxiety, about the things going on today in the world? Again like with the Artists, the Political types only mirror and reflect a deeper problem, they don't in themselves cause it. What I'm seeing this year is above all else, the end of cultural and spiritual consensus. We're just not the same people anymore, or rather the illusion of that sameness. It's almost necessary to have it, but everybody on some level knows we don't, and that we're talking past each other at this point.

Here's what's going to go down. Hillary Clinton was always going to be Biden's pick for Vice-Presidential running mate, so that she can theoretically become President in the only way possible for her, on someone else's coat-tails. This is my almost 100% prediction for the Democratic Party.

On the Republican side, I'm going to go out on a limb somewhat and say President Trump will dump Vice-President Pence from the GOP ticket as his running mate, and pick former Gov. Jesse Ventura of Minnesota as his Vice-Presidential running mate. I can't give a percentage on this, it's more of something of a somewhat informed gut feeling.

I have no idea what the crazy Democrats will do. But a Biden-Clinton ticket seems like a real loser to me.

That is ridiculous. President Trump still likes Vice-President Pence and thought enough of him to put him in charge of the COVID-19 response team.

They're going to lose in any case.

Trump doesn't like Pence, and Pence doesn't like Trump. Trump is giving Pence enough rope to hang himself with, by putting Pence in charge of the COVID-19 response team he can deflect any criticism by laying the blame on Pence and dumping him before the election.

If I'm right, I still doubt you'll change your mind about President Trump. I make fun of the Liberals on PoFo and elsewhere because he's in their head 24/7, and he's leading them around like a bunch of fools. But their idiocy is nothing compared to the brain-dead devotion he instills in people like you that I know for a fact he has complete contempt for.

So now you are claiming the power to read minds and know for a fact that President Trump has contempt for people like me. Don't you realize how idiotic that sounds to people like me? We are not really brain-dead with devotion for Trump. But it is clear that he is the best we have.

Have you seen how he talks about the Christian faith? No, I don't think you have, it would be too much for you to accept.

Is he better than the others running? Sure, but not by much. That's the problem, our problems are spiritual and cultural, politicians and men like Trump can't fix them because they're the product of those spiritual and cultural problems...

The pain people experience when their lives change in ways they don't like is quite real, and I feel for them. But no growth and wisdom is possible without pain in this life.
