Elderly woman dies after being smacked for not social distancing: sources

An 86-year-old woman awaiting treatment for bowel blockage at a Brooklyn hospital yesterday died after being punched by a fellow patient — for not engaging in “social distancing” amid the coronavirus, law enforcement sources told The Post on Sunday.

Brooklyn man busted for selling personal protection equipment, then coughing on FBI agents and telling them he had coronavirus: feds

The coronavirus outbreak has revealed heroes in every community. And then there’s this guy.

A Brooklyn man who said he had COVID-19 coughed on FBI agents, and lied to them about personal protection equipment he was hoarding to try to make a buck, authorities said Monday.

Baruch Feldheim, 43, was arrested by FBI agents in New Jersey and charged with assaulting a federal officer and with making false statements to law enforcement.

Prosecutors said Feldheim had accumulated much needed N95 respirators, personal protection surgical masks, medical gowns and disinfecting devices and selling them to health care professionals at inflated prices.

In one instance, according to authorities, a doctor in New Jersey contacted Feldheim via a WhatsApp chat group labeled “Virus2020!”

Feldheim agreed to sell to the doctor approximately 1,000 N95 masks and other assorted materials for $12,000, an approximately 700% markup from the normal price, according to court documents.

Feldheim directed the doctor to an auto repair shop in Irvington, N.J., to pick up the order, officials said.

According to the doctor, the repair shop contained enough materials, including hand sanitizers, Clorox wipes, chemical cleaning supply agents, and surgical supplies, to outfit an entire hospital, officials said.

Days later, Feldheim allegedly offered to sell a nurse a quantity of surgical gowns, and directed the nurse to his residence in Brooklyn.

On March 25, Feldheim also received a shipment from Canada containing approximately eight pallets of medical face masks, authorities said.

FBI agents two days later observed an empty box of N95 masks outside of Feldheim’s residence.

Around that time, agents witnessed multiple instances during which individuals approached Feldheim’s residence and walked away with boxes or bags that appeared to contain medical supplies.

When they approached him outside his home and asked about the medical supplies, Feldheim said he had coronavirus and coughed on the agents, officials said. Prosecutors said Feldheim also lied and told the agents that he worked for a company that bought and sold personal protective equipment.

It was not clear if Feldheim or the agents had been tested for coronavirus.

I really don't know about the nip situation with Gov. Cuomo, man, that was just absurd .

At first, I had thought it was some wardrobe malfunction, like... maybe they had accidentally taped his nips so it would go unnoticed if it did get too cold, but then I thought the shape was all wrong and ignored it, knowing the internet would reach the proper consensus on what they are later...

When I found out they are apparently piercings, I was just shocked.

Not a good look, Guv'.

In France, Covid-19 lockdown is for everyone… almost: Gang-ridden, immigrant-populated suburbs ‘NOT A PRIORITY’ for police

While French Covid-19 lockdown rules declare fines of nearly €4,000 for citizens repeatedly flouting quarantine, a secretary of state has reportedly admitted poor, gang-riddled suburbs will be left to their own devices.

As President Macron declared France at war with the coronavirus, public health officials and those on the frontline applauded what looked like decisive leadership… but the reality is a hotchpotch of Gallic double standards that undermine any attempts to put a lid on the spread of Covid-19.

Because French police understand that they don’t have much chance of enforcing the draconian measures on freedom of movement with which everyone in France is expected to comply on those citizens living in the poverty-stricken banlieues that outly the larger French cities.

As the emergency services union Synergie-Officiers pointed out on Twitter: “It is illusory to think that certain individuals in ‘sensitive neighborhoods’ comply with good citizenship in the state of the current legislation.”

The accompanying video shows two police vainly trying to disperse a growing gang of youths as the threat level creeps higher.

Another clip, filmed in a neighborhood “lost to the Republic,” shows a young man merrily jumping on a moving police car with the occupants attempting to drive off.

This is lawless stuff, all posted by the police union in an attempt to show what they are up against when simply trying to do their job and keep the population safe in the deprived suburbs of Macron’s France.

Do these hoodlums care about the nuances of social distancing or about downloading and printing out certificates to show the police that they have a good reason for being out and about?

Short answer? No.

Now, police officers face the humiliation of their own boss, Secretary of State to the Ministry of the Interior Laurent Nunez, totally undermining their efforts.

In a letter signed by Nunez, and leaked to the satirical magazine Le Canard Enchaine, he blithely advises: "It is not a priority to enforce closings in certain neighborhoods and to stop gatherings."

Er, what about Covid-19?

And it’s not just Nunez displaying this wilful ignorance in a time of emergency at government level, because in a reported video conference call the secretary of state expressed concern to attendees that restricting the movement in the banlieues might ignite social unrest if enforced too rigorously.

One of the regional defense zone prefects on the call agreed, suggesting that the businesses shut down elsewhere France should remain open in the poorer neighborhoods as they helped with “social mediation.”

This undermining of the laws that Macron declared as essential, this clear disregard for the population as a whole, comes at a time when police, ambulance and firefighters face record levels of hostility when they venture into the suburbs where gangs set cars on fire then attack them when they arrive to help.

It gives them absolutely no chance of effectively doing their jobs.

Last year it was reported that violence against police officers was up 60 percent in the last 20 years and Patrice Ribeiro, secretary-general of Synergie-Officiers, said: “There is no longer any respect for authority and the sense of impunity has increased.”

And that makes the whole idea of self-isolation and quarantine a joke. If people are simply choosing to go about their pre-coronavirus lives as if nothing has happened, then the whole strategy of tackling the global pandemic on French soil is pointless.

When he announced the crackdown in France, Macron declared: "We are at war, certainly a health war. We are not fighting against an army or against another nation. But the enemy is there, invisible, elusive, advancing. And this requires our general mobilisation."

The president shuttered bars, cafes and restaurants, cancelled a scheduled second round of local elections and announced fines of up to €3,700 and jail terms of six months for those who repeatedly flouted the restrictions on movement.

It all looked clear and decisive to the outside world but now it seems it was just hollow talk.

Where large sections of the population are not policed and not expected to adhere to the rules that everyone else is obeying, despite their own difficulties, then the system is broken.

Further, for the secretary of state responsible to be caught out badmouthing the policy, that shows something seriously wrong with French society.

Not only does it show a lack of respect for the police, it shows an underlying contempt for the migrants and poor residents of poverty-stricken neighborhoods across the country who are at the mercy of a killer virus.

Law-abiding French people face a six-week lockdown right now as the Covid-19 death toll tops 1,100. If the lawless gangs of the banlieues are left to do as they please, heaven knows how many more could perish.

Indians Are Watching A Disturbing Amount of Child Porn During Coronavirus Lockdown

Shocking new data shows that along with the 95 percent increase in child porn consumption, there’s also been a 200 percent spike in searches for videos showing children bleeding, choking, tortured or in pain.

We’ve known for a while that India has a serious child pornography problem. Even though the country has banned pornography entirely, it continues to be one of the biggest contributors and consumers of child abuse content. But latest data has revealed an even more disturbing trend, especially as the nation has been under a tight lockdown since March 23. According to the India Child Protection Fund (ICPF), there has been a steep increase in demand for searches like “child porn”, “sexy child” and “teen sex videos”, along with an increase in traffic on Pornhub from India by 95 percent between March 24 and 26, 2020, as compared to before the lockdown.

The ICPF was set up in January 2020 by Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi’s son Bhuvan Ribhu, to support NGOs with funding resources for curbing the exploitation of children. The organisation has flagged this “high demand” for searches for child porn as a potential threat to children who are stuck at home because of the lockdown. The spike in child porn consumption during the lockdown period—says Nivedita Ahuja, the chairperson of ICPF—is indicative of how “millions of paedophiles, child rapists and child pornography addicts have migrated online, making the Internet extremely unsafe for children.” She also said, “Without stringent action, this could result in a drastic rise in sexual crimes against children.”

The report, which is titled “Child Sexual Abuse Material in India” has trends from 100 Indian cities that include New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Indore among others. In December 2019, the ICPF recorded an average demand for child porn of 5 million per month in these 100 cities. Over the last few weeks, international agencies such as the Europol, the United Nations and End Child Prostitution and Trafficking (ECPAT) have reported that paedophiles and child pornograpy addicts have been increasing their activities to lure children who are now spending more time online. A report by the International Labour Organisation says that “cyber-trafficking, grooming (the act of befriending a child, and sometimes the family, to lower the child's inhibitions with the objective of sexual abuse), sextortion, sexting, live streaming of child sexual abuse” are some of the new trends of crime against children and vulnerable communities.

In India, the ICPF has been studying the trends and landscape of child pornography or child sexual abuse material (CSAM). “A vast majority of individuals were interested in generic CSAM content involving ‘school girls sex’ and the demand for content with specific age groups, sexual actions and locations was growing,” further stated the new report.

More disturbingly, though, the report adds that the demand for specific content mostly skewed towards violent videos and images. “While all child pornography is violent, 18 percent individuals exhibited explicit intent for videos where children were choking, bleeding, tortured, in pain or screaming,” said the report. “The demand for this kind of content grew as much as 200% during the project duration. This indicates that Indian men are not ‘satisfied’ with generic child pornography and demand violent and exploitative content.”

A crackdown has already been initiated in India, most of which involves using technology to track unlawful content, especially on social media platforms. At the same time, organisations like ICPF are stepping up to warn authorities of such dangerous trends at a time like this. Said Ahuja, "The Government of India must urgently crackdown on child pornography and also initiate a global dialogue for an international convention against child sexual abuse material."
