Crantag wrote:So where do you figure the threat of police rates? Because I'll put it number one above the other valid things you mentioned, but it could be further down the list. And when done the right way sex is not unhealthy, it's actually a human need.

Yes, police threats are up there with John violence.

Fucking prostituted women does not = "sex", nor is sex a human need, insofar as you're not owed it nor will you die from not having sex, whereas you will by not eating. Not that fucking prostituted women = sex. You can just jerk off, if you think it's a "human need".

Crantag wrote:In case anyone didn't catch it @skinster was channelling the prude Chris Hedges, who is quite a good commentator on most stuff but whom is also a fundamentalist Christian.

Chris Hedges did not invent feminist ideas. We oppose prostitution and porn because of its documented violence against women, and I read all about that before Chris Hedges spoke to prostituted women, survivors of porn etc. (but you should listen to the women he speaks to too). Also, he's not a fundamentalist Christian, he's barely a Christian (even though he studied that world).

If you believe those of us who oppose violence against women are prudes, that's your problem, and something I always find amusing by the pro-prostitution brigade, as if we equate buying women to that wonderfully fun (and mutual) thing that most people understand sex to be.

Can't tell if this is real. Aggressively saying that the #1 issue sex workers face is the existence of police seems pretty normal for today's dialogue. I'm sure the pimps and Johns will be real nice to the sex workers once those evil cops are out of the picture completely.

Truth is though, any legal ones who can join a sex worker's union don't deserve state protection anyway.

Crantag wrote:What is the number one challenge for sex workers, which they need to deal with?

Negotiating a price and getting paid.

So what's the point of the union? Are you trying to set prices higher?

Obviously, that is the way unions work so they can get their cut.

So you think Crantag wants to be a pimp without the stigma of being a pimp?

What are you trying to do? Surely you noticed that I already have a yellow card. I am trying to make it to November.

I'm the real deal man, check my posting history. And thank you for the kind words about my rhetorical skills :-).

Tax state regulated brothels.

When pimping and brothel-keeping was made legal (Prostituiertenschutzgesetz) in 2002, two years later, prostitution in Germany was thought to be worth 6 billion euros – roughly the same as Porsche or Adidas.

Not sure what 'bested' means but sorry I don't agree with your legitimising of violence against women. Ever consider selling your mouth and anus for a week to see what this "job" feels like?

Sounds like it.

I think there was some kind of 4chan operation about this where they would report e-thots to the IRS. It's like, single, no dependents, making money but no taxes?

Sounds like it.

Because I don't think you anticipated that I would catch the Chris Hedges bit.

And actually no, I'm not trying to be a pimp.

I have met and currently know human beings who I respect who are involved in the trade.

I don't really want to try what you suggested, but I'm not attracted to men, also.

I'm not attempting to create a system to evade law enforcement. But self defense from law enforcement might be a genuine need.

Skinster just set something off in me.

I am a man, but Skinster doesn't know how some of these Chinese girls be like, especially the moneyed ones.

But we are all just having a conversation, it's all good, I welcome any productive thoughts.

I've been around town you guys. But I asked for no questions that could potentially hurt someone and I think Skinster has violated the rules, someone give her a yellow card.

Don't really though, because that might be harmful for her and that'd also be against the thread rules.

I'm still not sure what the Chris Hedges "bit" is.

Same, and I still know women who've been in this world and one who remains in it and it's very ugly. And the ones who act like it isn't are either doing it from a safe enough distance - webcaming for instance - or are too traumatised to accept what they're a part of and won't really accept it is until the inevitable happens (if they survive it). Prostituted women need years of therapy before they can speak honestly about what they were a part of. Same for women in porn films, although a lot of them are too high or dead to think.

The Pimping of Prostitution is a good book on this subject. So is Johns by Victor Ma...forget his last name, if you want to get into the mind of the buyers.

I don't really want to try what you suggested, but I'm not attracted to men, also.

You don't have to be attracted to them, you think prostituted women are attracted to the gross men that buy/use their bodies?

I'm not attempting to create a system to evade law enforcement. But self defense from law enforcement might be a genuine need.

If you are interested in this world, trying to find other options for the women you know who are prostituted might be a better way to avoid violence.

Skinster just set something off in me.

What, understanding what this job might be like if it was your holes on sale?

I am a man, but Skinster doesn't know how some of these Chinese girls be like, especially the moneyed ones.

How are they?

I've been around town you guys. But I asked for no questions that could potentially hurt someone and I think Skinster has violated the rules, someone give her a yellow card.

Who did I hurt? Your ego?

After seeing the conversation and the reactions and stuff, am I being righteous or self righteous?

A little, not sure why you expected everyone to agree with you on an industry that is known for violence against women, I mean, even the OP wants to deal with violence directed at prostituted women (by the police).

I don't have darkness in my heart, I don't think.

I don't think so either and I reckon we're often on the same page politically, I just don't know if you have really looked into what prostitution for the vast majority of women and children who are forced into that world is like, because if you had, you might not consider it a job like any other. :)
