Yes, it partially does, because multinationals bribe the hell out of American politicians and get virtually everything they ask for, whereas ordinary Americans get nothing they ask for.

Also, organized crime is always part of how multinationals work (all capitalism, in fact, uses organized crime), and organized crime is there to subvert democracy.

Likewise, the corporate government uses war and false flag emergencies to subvert democratic movements by making everyone fearful and stupid.

They also provide lots of useless news pieces to take attention away from places they don't want us to look.

It seems easier to drop all pretense of being able to treat people exactly the same.

It's just better to exonerate yourself.

Like... I guess our system tends to favor people without prior offenses and we are more kind and lenient to people the more that they resemble the middle class kid next door. In-group biases are pretty normal. Your life will be easier if you try to make yourself as close to this as possible, and if you do not succeed in that, well, maybe be doubly careful to be polite to the arresting officer and expect a a more raw deal if you pursue a life of crime.

We're told that, already, this message is broadcast everywhere... Everyone's gotten the signal, right?

Is it fair? Well, no, but we are also doing our best to provide benefits to minorities in other ways. If you come before the court as a high school dropout with a prior and statistically get a rawer deal than whites with a similar background, IDK, man, yeah, that kind of sucks, but the amount of effort it would take to excise this from our population & to topple a bajillion internalized Confederate statues... IDK.

Maybe this is just the best we can do and we should just account for human imperfections and adjust fire accordingly.

You must have never been to Seattle. It's literally an urban metropolis surrounded by wide open public parks and other green spaces, right in the downtown area. Seems like you can't walk a mile in any direction without coming across a public space. The public spaces are quite nice too, if you don't mind seeing junkies shooting up everywhere in broad daylight.

Welp, it's happened again; in New York this time.

All governments use violence, and all corporations are chartered by governments, who determine what is legal and illegal. Taking from someone according to their ability implies both theft and slavery, while giving to people according only to their needs implies subsistence. So communism/socialism pretty much runs on what would otherwise be described as criminal behavior if it weren't state sanctioned. Such is the nature of governments.

Coronavirus has made that ever clear.

Or quash facts or omit stories. In the instant case, Dawit Kelete is black and that is rarely mentioned in the mainstream media. They haven't even arrived at a charging decision yet, because they would be putting away a black man for killing white Black Lives Matter protesters--as I've characterized it, the mother of all ironies.

No mention of race in the title, or of BLM. The survivor seems completely unaware that she was run over by a black guy.

Summer Taylor, a 24-year-old veterinary clinic worker, suffered critical injuries and died Saturday night. Diaz Love, 32, from Portland, Oregon, was in serious condition.

“I’m alive and stable,” Love posted on Facebook late Sunday. "In a lot of pain. I cannot believe Summer was murdered. If they thought this murder would make us back down, they are very wrong. Very wrong."

Love also said,“My FB is filled with death threats, that and only being able to use one hand has me going slow. I deeply appreciate and feel all the love y’all are sending me.”

How weird it is that someone goes from Portland to Seattle to protest that Black Lives Matter on the freeway and then gets run over by a black guy. Democrats are just so bizarre.

Yeah, it's definitely not because they have nowhere else to protest.

What retards. These people can't even protest effectively.

Yes, so maybe the protestors should get off the highway, and go have a nice little "picnic protest" in a park where they will bother no one and get zero attention.

Great idea.

Even better, maybe they should fly to a huge national park in Alaska and hold a quiet sit-down strike surrounded by snowy mountains.

By suggesting parks, you are demonstrating no empathy for the protestors, as you seem to be reserving the entirety of your heart for the car industry and suburban commuters - such sympathetic causes.

So you think shutting down freeways is a good idea huh? Mostly, it just pisses people off.

Anyway, they're charging the poor bastard with vehicular manslaughter. Only white liberals purporting to advance the cause of black people could end up putting a black person in jail as an expression of their compassion for the benighted black people.

Driver who struck Seattle protester on closed highway charged with felony vehicular homicide

I think that would be more sensible than throwing a black man in prison in furtherance of Black Lives Matter.

What's wrong with having a protest in a park? Surely they would get more attention in a park in the daytime than shutting blocking a god damn freeway at night.

I am not sure that their street protesters got the kind of attention that they were looking for by shutting down a highway and getting one of their fellow protesters killed

And furthermore, why does it seem like almost everywhere these "peaceful protesters" go, they end up getting themselves or some others seriously injured or killed?

We've got these two, one dead, one who will probably never recover, then we have all those people shot and killed in Chaz before it was torn down.

I'm calling bullshit on the whole Black Live Matters thing. It looks to me like a white liberal project to try to retain black voters who are increasingly disillusioned by the Democrats. These riots, like CHOP for example, end up getting black people killed or in the instant freeway case getting a black person sent to prison. Clearly, they are not interested in black lives.

Black Lives Matter is a neo-Marxist project that was started by black lesbians, supported and funded by celebs, big corporations, and rich Jews like George Soros.

Also, Trump can literally get on his knees for black folks like he always does for Bibi, and most blacks still wouldn't vote for him. So please stop with this nonsense, blackjack.

That's an interesting twist, because the dead girl claimed to be gender non-binary. The other is also a lesbian. Yet, I find it incredible that they are going to put a black man in prison while claiming to be supporting black people.

Most blacks will not vote for Trump. I know this already. However, Trump did reverse Joe Biden's 1994 crime bill, which made incarceration increase by ten fold in the United States--disproportionately affecting black Americans.

So I think the 2020 election is quite meaningful in the sense that black people have a choice between voting for THE VERY GUY who increased black incarceration rates by 10x (Joe Biden) or the guy who reversed that policy (Donald Trump). Yet, still, so many of them will vote for THE VERY GUY who increased black incarceration rates by 10x.

I think that's absolutely remarkable.

Back before the car or suburbs, protests would happen in a central square or at the crossroads of important streets. No matter what the subject of your protest, you need a place like this in order to be seen and "felt" by the public at large.

In the age of suburbia and cars, ALL human activity has been reduced, not only protesting. Sitting in a sealed box when you are not in a fixed place is a way of destroying most daily human contact that is spontaneous.

So, it is because of the car-centric planning of USA cities that protests are FORCED to take place on highways in most cities.

I realize that it would "bother you less" if the protest was some quiet thing in a leafy park, with Bob Marley "Buffalo Soldiers" playing at Level 2 on a tiny sound system. But that approach has NEVER worked as protests NEED attention to be effective.

No they aren't. It's a fairly recent development running back to the Obama years. Protests are not permitted on highways. It's illegal, and frankly dangerous.

That's why they should be done in front of government buildings. People are not going to listen to protesters on a highway.

If the government building is located on a busy street, this is appropriate. If it's behind a parking lot in suburbia, not.

People are not going to listen to protesters on a highway.

Actually, the only way to get people to "listen" or "notice" a protest is to hold it right in their windshield.

I think one of the main issues is something that has been true for decades...

Most people are not actually that interested in participating in democracy. When they do participate, it is for these fleeting moments, and their concerns are very practical.

"It's the economy, stupid!" is a poignant phrase because of this.

This motto could otherwise be referred to as bread and circuses, stupid!

Whether it is a leftist cause celebre, or a right wing story arc on virtue and patriotism, people tend to not be interested until it is visceral and they're forced to respond, and 9 times out of 10 intellectuals are dissatisfied with the simplicity of the answer that is given by them, and instead find a reason to appoint themselves demagogue.

It's a rough deal for us smartie folks because nobody cares & it's all a waste of time.

And that is why this talk of people not paying attention to our protests is ultimately fruitless.

Hindsite wrote:I think many of them still have the slave to the Democrats syndrome.

Welfare dependency is a very real thing, but I don't think that's why we're seeing the Black Lives Matter stuff. I think the Democrats are toast as a party if the black vote fractures and doesn't turn out for the Democrats. A big problem they face is that Trump isn't a racist. He does not hate black people, so you do not see him upset about de Blasio painting Black Lives Matter on the street in front of Trump Tower. Trump hasn't declared so many black people as "non-essential" the way de Blasio has. Trump isn't preventing black people from going to church the way de Blasio is doing. Trump didn't pass a law putting 100s of thousands of black people in prison the way Biden did; on the contrary, he passed a bill reversing that practice. A lot of blacks are aware of that. Enough that it has scared the Democrats.

Verv wrote:It's a rough deal for us smartie folks because nobody cares & it's all a waste of time.

Well a lot of it is a waste of time and money. For example, in the software industry, the leftists are trying to eliminate master->slave and blacklist and whitelist as terms of art. It creates absolutely no economic value, and in fact costs money to change it and may break existing systems integrations--costing companies millions to fix this stuff. Of course, I will make money on this sort of thing, but ethics requires me to be honest about it.

Verv wrote:And that is why this talk of people not paying attention to our protests is ultimately fruitless.

Well, I think what the Democrats want is push back from the Republicans so that they can say, "See! The Republicans are racist." What they are getting is, "Ok. So why don't you big city liberals stop shooting black people and putting them in prison?"

Verv wrote:Most people are not actually that interested in participating in democracy. When they do participate, it is for these fleeting moments, and their concerns are very practical.

Yes, when people living in alienated bourgeois societies are provoked into protesting, they are not really interested. This is partially because they are NOT involved in any kind of society, and have been trained to passively watch what oligarchs will do to them over time.

In socialist countries that have had to struggle to develop, there is a much stronger sense of a social cause, and it is much easier to get people to participate in their own survival.

So while socialist countries can encourage social participation in state projects (like corona resonse, poverty eradication, literacy programs, community medicine)... in capitalist countries, the worker drones remain uncooperative and isolated right up to their starvation ("their concerns are very practical").

And with the right media memes, the oligarchs can even make them NOT RESPOND to the early stages of mass starvation.

...

The above is the reason why people who live in rich, Western countries should NOT depend on their own hunches about what is appropriate behavior. Their idea of "normal behavior" has been perverted by mass media memes to the point of mental illness and social death.
