blackjack21 wrote:Tchaikovsky[/code] was a master of form. Beethoven was excellent. As for symphonies, I give it to Gustav Mahler. For creativity, it's hard to beat Igor Stravinsky. Stravinsky even influenced much of American jazz greats like Charlie Parker and Miles Davis.

Like many others that are not classical music experts I tend to prefer the abilities of Tchaikovsky to write a great melody. Writing a memorable melody is not easy. IN that regards Lennon-McCartney were great. Chopin is another great writer of melody and amazingly romantic. Mozart could also write a tune, but he was enslaved to the constraints of the classical era which can be quite repetitive. Beethoven is less classical and hence quite interesting.

I know, I know... Russia, Russia, Russia!!!

When Van Cliburn won the piano competition in Moscow in 1958 he was an American hero. What a different era, a classical pianist was the hero, the nation was much more united. Watch the video: He was given a ticker tape parade. Interestingly watch how people dressed in 1958.

He started out as a devout Marxist.

Sowell is one of the greatest thinkers in black America, however, he is always ignored by the left. He was admitted to Harvard and Columbia when there was no affirmative action. I dare say he is too smart for the average victimhood loving American SJW.

There is a young black kid named Coleman Hughes that has actually read Sowell and gets it. He is making a name for himself on YOU TUBE.

I this short video Coleman talks about victimhood which is central to the philosophy of your student. Note, how it is always all about victimhood. The embracing of the noble victim is very empowering to many. BTW, I have never met a successful person that sees himself or herself as a victim.

The poster sees racism in every single word I write. Maybe he sees everything thru a racial lens.

Yes, and that is the definition of a racialist. But racialists don’t necessarily hate and fear others based on their race, or think one race is superior to another.

The Democrats are basically neoliberal centrists.

The Republicans are basically racist right to far right.

Except Trump of course. Always victim of the "establishment" instead of his own moronic behavior.

The irony is that to assume all Republicans are racist is bigotry to the max. You are judging people because they belong to a group.
That is the essence of discrimination. Go back to the drawing board POD.

Name a Republican that has never supported racism.

POD, you know nothing about American history.
What is your definition of supporting racism? Being a conservative?

POD:

The 1964 Civil Rights Act passed because of the Republicans. Lincoln liberated the slaves. Up until 1965 the Democratic Party was the party of Slavery, Jim, Crow, and the KKK.

BTW, you assume that if a Republican sees black people in the same light as anyone else that is somehow racist. I think you see anti-racism as a religion and hence you are binded by that ideology.

@Julian658

No one cares about your opinion of me.

Are you arguing that the Republicans were not racist before 1965? If so, that implies that they have been racist for the 55 years since then, which logically implies that all the current serving Republicans are racist.

Which is what I claimed.

EDIT:

Interestingly enough, Lincoln supported “colonization”, which effectively meant creating colonies of black people outside the USA. He basically wanted to deport all black people to ethnically cleanse the USA and make a white republic.

My opinion of you is that you see racism in everything.
You also practice presentism.

@Julian658

No one talks about racism more than you.

Again, the Republican party is the party of racist people and extreme right wing to (at its most moderate) decidedly right wing. There are no moderates and everyone of them supports racism in some way.

Mind you, the Democrats are just as murderous so you should vote for Jill Stein.

POD

It is impossible to have a dialog when all you do is post accusatory one liners. It is boring!
I do talk about racism, but in a totally different manner. I talk about racism as MLK did and you talk about racism in the new antiracist religion style which is toxic.

No one cares about your opinion of your own arguments about racism.

Name one Republican politician who has openly criticised Trump for his racism. One.

POD,
you always ask for citations even when I mention that the Earth is not flat. You have got to be pretending to be uninformed, there is no other explanation.

Oh by the way... for all of those that say "Trump is joking/trolling" about the election, "you leftists have been crying hyperbole all this time" blah blah etcetera, this is an opinion piece by Steven Calabresi:
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/30/opin ... virus.html
Who is this guy you say? Long time republican, co-founder of the federalist society (yeah, that one, the one that is supplying the names of the "conservative judges"), the guy that criticized the Muller investigation and his prior impeachment.
Yes... this guy... not leftists liberal... is taking the tweet seriously and even saying that this is ground for impeachment and removal (of course that part is hilarious  ).
Take it seriously guys, the plenty german citizen did not take Hitler seriously, plenty did not take Fidel seriously or believed these peoples delusional excuses and fear-mongering.
I might not Like Bush's policies and/or way he lead the country, I would probably not like a hypothetical Mcain or even a Mitt Romney. Both republicans and democrats could go to bed sleep at night sound that a Bush, Obama, Biden, Clinton, Romney president would not do this kind of shenanigans. With Trump, no so much. This guy needs to lose, this guy needs to lose big, preferably on all states (I know, let me dream).

I agree, he's been bent on destroying American institutions throughout his administration. But if he did try to postpone the elections, he'd still be forced out under the Constitution.

I do believe though it's overall better to deal with the current woke Democrats who will start eating each other a year or so into Biden's administration (on top of attempting further destruction of American institutions of their own) than to reward Trump for his behavior.
