Good job Texas democrats. Texas republicans know they are trying to deny the right to vote to fellow democrats and specific targeted groups of people so they can manufacture election results they want in the future.

Eric Bradner and Dianne Gallagher of CNN wrote:Texas House Democrats are preparing to leave the state Monday in an effort to block Republicans from passing a restrictive new voting law in the remaining 27 days of the special legislative session called by Gov. Greg Abbott, two sources familiar with the Democrats' plans told CNN.

The majority of the Democrats fleeing Texas are flying to Washington, DC, on two chartered jets. They have kept planning secret because they can be legally compelled to return to the Capitol and believed law enforcement could be sent to track them down, the sources said.

Their move places Texas at the heart of the national fight over voting rights, with GOP state lawmakers turning former President Donald Trump's lies about widespread voting fraud into a push for new laws that limit mail-in voting, early voting and more.

Already this year, Republican-controlled states including Florida, Georgia and Iowa have enacted restrictive new voting laws. Democrats in Congress have pushed measures that would expand access to the ballot box nationwide -- but GOP opposition in the Senate has kept them from clearing the 60-vote threshold necessary to break a filibuster.

In Texas, minority House Democrats walked out of the final hours of this year's legislative session, blocking Republicans from approving Senate Bill 7 -- the controversial measure that would have made casting mail-in ballots harder; banned drive-thru voting centers and 24-hour voting -- tactics Harris County, the home of Houston, used in the 2020 election; empowered poll watchers, made it easier for courts to overturn election results; effectively outlawed Black churches' "souls to the polls" get out the vote push and more.

Abbott, the Republican governor who is seeking a third term in 2022, called a 30-day special legislative session, saying that "election integrity" would be one of his priorities. Majority Republicans in the House and Senate in recent days unveiled bills that closely mirrored SB 7.

Doesn't matter. All of these rules/laws are being done in bad faith on the back of the big election lie Trump pushed.

Therefore is should all be smacked down. Abbot is a lying piece of shit as it is anyway, so fuck him, and fuck his knuckle dragging supporters.

@Unthinking Majority

Yeah those rules are voter suppression. Like Rancid says, they are being done in bad faith because republicans think this the only way they can win elections. Plus, they don't want to change their policies to better suit voters. They don't care what voters want so instead of changing their policies to better suit voters, they are engaging in voter suppression so they can get into and stay in power without having to change their policies to best serve the voters.

Why would anyone oppose voting laws promote secure elections? There is a huge problem with Democrats. They thought everything, including illegal voting, was okay against Trump. That is why the election was highly controversial.

You need security checks to prevent misconducts. You need identification laws to prevent multiple voting.

It's funny that these types of people don't trust vaccines because government lies to them, but they believe all these lies Trump says lol.

Maybe if you want to believe the lie it's easier to believe?

Can you point to specific incidents of mass voter fraud that require these laws? That's the fundamental problem that makes all of this completely in bad faith. This "well who doesn't want more secure elections" statement you fuck faces hide behind is what makes this all in bad faith. You can't even show that elections are not secure.

Anyway, you are a dumpshit moron. I'll wait your knuckle dragging shit headed dip shit of a response.

Their fears of the dirty communists taking over America is big enough to get them to believe the election fraud lie. Their fears of dying by covid are not as great. This is because they've had decades upon decades of cold war propaganda to build their hysteria to this point. COVID and anti-vaxx propaganda is relatively new. It will take more decades of hammering on this before they get hysterical to the point where they'll want to do some other dumb shit. CDC is predicting a large number of COVID deaths in states that have relatively lower vaccinations rates. These are mostly conservative states. I hope as many of them die as possible due to their fucking own stupidity. They all need to die, and so does that piece of shit TRump. Choke on a some of that KFC chicken you (Trump) fat fuck. That fucker needs to burn in hell. Aside from that, Cruz, Abbot, Hawley, Gosar, Boebart, MTG and all those other spineless piece of shit Republicans can suck on big black rubber dicks like the scum bags they all are.

Anyway, fundamentally, I'm not against passing certain rules/laws if needed, but there needs to be data/evidence behind it, not just hysterical fear and lies.

I truly cannot fathom how Texas continues to tell the rest of the country, with glee, to "move here, we have low taxes and few regulations." But some of my state's regulations require that our power companies insulate their building and can survive a frost. Some require that our buildings are inspected and don't fall down. Some require that people not build a home on the edge of a Reservoir, as Houston did a few years ago, then lost 1000's of homes in a rainfall. We also can't build a chemical plant across the street from a school, which you can do in Texas, and then a bunch of children die in a chemical explosion.

Why does "Texas Pride" require that the state never looks inward at its own rules and behaviors?

Why do Republicans justify their anti democratic vote rigging with dumb shit like this ……. guess what? We are not morons ……. much to your chagrin.

Arrogance seems to be a virtue in that shithole state ……… they actually "threaten" to secede from the US from time to time because they are so wonderful. Wouldn't that be a relief. My recent favorite was this past winter when their incompetence caused their power grid to freeze up and go down while their senator Teddy Cruise was basking on a Mexican beach.

There was no security checks in 2020 election so it was not easy to prove voter frauds. But with these laws being implemented, it will be easier to track frauds.

Voting irregularities are just enough reasons for suspicion. Trump was expected to win a landslide victory. But suddenly absent ballots appeared in favour of rival candidate whose supporters were very hostile toward Trump and his people.

It is up to Republican lawmakers to protect their audience and political future of the party. They are just doing this now.

BS.

You mean steal the election.

You mean the entirely fake reason for suspicion.

No, people expected the election to be close. Face it, we got record turnout because of all the people that hated Trump.

The lawyers that tried to sell this BS in court are now facing judges giving them a hard time, expect more to have their law careers ended.

It just you pretend to ignore things. But facts do not disappear. 2020 US election was the most controversial election (in a democratic country) in human history. Now these are being implemented to make things fair and better.

Trump lawyers are hostages in Democrat controlled states. Complete political theater as it is expected from corrupt states like New York and California. What is funny is that people in these state race to escape to other states. They are sickened of Democrat policies.

According to Republican election officials, Republican security officials and Republican judges; you are lying. That includes the Supreme Court, that wouldn't touch your lies with a ten foot pole.

Btw, the 2020 election isn't even in the top 100 controversial elections. And they had real controversies, too, not that fake shit you peddle.
