"Mongol barbarism"! Why don't you toss in "yellow plague" while you are at it?[/quote]
The father of communism Karl Marx's conclusion on Russian history: "The bloody mire of Mongolian slavery, not the rude glory of the Norman epoch, forms the cradle of Muscovy, and modern "russia" is but a metamorphosis of Muscovy. .

Maybe you should be awarded the Karl Marx Medal. You are not part of any liberal order.

A chorus in medical scrubs intones "polonium, polonium" as an opera about the poisoned Kremlin critic Alexander Litvinenko premieres in a British theatre on Thursday.

The staging at a 700-seater opera house includes a scene where gun-wielding Chechen rebels walk through the audience, recreating the 2002 siege of Moscow's Dubrovka theatre.

This opera sounds absolutely hilarious. Pretentious art house trash at its best.

TV.ru BS,

do you agree that putin´s poodles are not part of any liberal order?

Member litwin, if he's genuine, is undoubtedly a member of the liberal order, because he's a supporter of Western resistance against Russian* assault.

*: or Muscovy / Mongol as he said, although he should take note of the fact that Mongolia itself is a democratic country now

Yes, I do. I believe Putin is a dictator. A dictator is not necessarily a bad thing. True, a dictatorship is not the preferable system, but it is silly to believe that it is always the worst choice. In the case of Russia since the demise of the Soviet Union, Putin's dictatorship has been the best thing that happened to Russia.

Maybe Litwin ought to inform Germany at the very least that they are supposed be part of his "western resistance". Germany, as a matter of fact, is doing a thriving business with Putin; and Nord Stream 2 is the latest business deal inked by both.

And it is not just Germany. Most of old Europe- the EU before fall of Soviet Union- do not share the paranoia of the new Europe of Donald Rumsfeld. The new Europe of ex Warsaw Pact States. They may end up being the Achille's heel of Nato and EU.

The EU and Nato of Europe before fall of the Soviet Union was a defensive alliance. And after the fall of the Soviet Union Nato was wise to admit only new members who bring no old baggage and grudges along with them. But that has not been the case with ex Warsaw members of Nato. If the likes of Poland and the three Baltic midgets- Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia- have their way, Nato will morph from a defensive alliance into an activist and liberation alliance. That could cause future problems for Nato

The best defense is a good offense.

 Agree. Hard to argue with that. Though I must also point out that that goes for Russia as well.

Playing offense is also fraught with risks. For Nato, especially the old Nato of Germany, France, etc the question is whether that is what they want.

For new Nato, the Nato of recent entrants like Poland, the Baltic midgets etc, there is merit in a Nato that is on the offense and liberating; that is until Russia is dismantled. I imagine the new entrants probably estimate that military alliances come and go; and Nato may also fold up just as the Warsaw Pact before it; then what happens? If ascendant Russia is still there after say Nato folds, then they are back to the vulnerabilities Nato is protecting them from at moment.
