That is somewhat ignorant. Switzerland always took the "armed" part of "armed neutrality" rather seriously, until the end of the cold war at least. It's not a complete pushover like Austria.

It's a bad example, since the "oil-for-food" program existed, explicitly aimed at helping the Iraqi people. Iraq rejected the program until 1995 by the way (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Na ... lution_706).

Nice compilation of proofs why peace is not an option for Americans.
It also pictures why NATO Fanclub boys , like Rugoz, Rancid, DrLee and others are not capable of sensing human sufferings on both sides in Ukraine, because it is simply a business for them.
If the war stops, money stops.

So, their answer is: do not stop the war...let's fuel it, as much as possible, it multiplies their profits.

No not right now, but as soon as there's a peace agreement. I favored sending NATO troops into Ukraine when I was concerned that Ukrainian defenses might collapse. I would still support this if things turn seriously bad for Ukraine. If NATO troops were to go in then Ukraine couldn't use that territory to attack Russian forces. So as long as Ukraine still thinks it can regain territory we should stay out.

I'm one of Neville Chamberlain's strongest defenders. I think he was right to go the extra mile for peace at Munich and right to lead the British Commonwealth and the French empire into war in 1939. If Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden and Norway had been willing to stand behind Chamberlain, his position would have been much stronger. We could have gone to war in March 1939, immediately when Hitler reneged on the Munich agreement and the great disasters of the western collapse in April, May and June of 1940 could almost certainly have been avoided. We would also have been in position to give prompt aid to Finland if Stalin had made the same demands he made in actuality.

Swiss failure to militarily ally with the West was less important in the Cold War, but their forces would still have been useful. If Germany and France fell to a Soviet advance, then Switzerland would be highly vulnerable to Soviet intimidation armed neutrality or no.

Saddam should have been overthrown in 1991. If you going to compare Saddam to Hitler as H Bush did, its a bit rich to then whine that he's not looking after the interests of his people.

There might never be a peace agreement. Putin knows that when he agrees to peace, whatever parts of Ukraine Russia doesn't control at that moment will be gone forever.

Pretty sure the offensive capabilities of the Swiss army in WW2 were basically nil. In case of an attack it would have retreated to fortifications in the mountains.

I think the label "parasite of western security" is fair. It's just not the ONLY parasite, and arguably not the worst ;). If we're honest, the only country that doesn't deserve that label is the US of A.

European puppets will kneel. Mother Russia forgives those who kneel.

Okay and? EU economy is still growing at 1-2% pace while Russia will go down by what? -10%, -20%?

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation promises to hand over the first three residential buildings built in Mariupol in September

Moscow. August 10. INTERFAX.RU - The first three residential buildings in Mariupol, erected by Russian military builders, will be commissioned in early September, the remaining nine - before the end of the year, Maxim Abarinov, a representative of the military construction complex of the Russian Defense Ministry, told reporters on Wednesday.

"Three five-story apartment buildings are at the stage of readiness: one is almost ready, the second is 80%, the third is 70%. We plan to hand over these houses in early September for settlement," Abarinov said.

He specified that communications had already been connected to these houses. In total, there are 12 houses in the residential complex, the entire complex is planned to be commissioned before the end of the year. On the territory around the complex there will be children's and sports grounds, green spaces, driveways and parking lots. The complex is designed for approximately 2.5 thousand people, in total there are 1011 apartments in 12 houses.
Also, the forces of the Ministry of Defense are building an infectious disease center designed for 60 beds. It is scheduled to be put into operation by September.

It is a stalemate, we need a peace or the European economy will suffer. The glass and steel production facilites will be destroyed, because they are so built to work 24/7 if they halt they are useless scrap metal.

Russia was on the way to become a industrialized country, but Putin wanted to conquer :-(

Either peace, or fracking and nuclear energy (this has to happen fast), but the stupid green party is in Germany in power, this flowerchildren have no clue about energy or strategy.

Agreed. The whole border with Russia can be fortified. The fortifications along the old front line between Ukraine and the Republics have proved very durable. Hopefully we are fortifying our other NATO borders with Russia and Belarus including Finland.

Pretty sure the offensive capabilities of the Swiss army in WW2 were basically nil. In case of an attack it would have retreated to fortifications in the mountains.

The great advantage would have been to deploy French and British forces in Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands and Denmark along the border with Germany. This would have made German offensives in the East against Poland or Czechoslovakia even more risky.

Perhaps correct today. During the early part of the Cold War Britain conducted considerable anti Communist insurgency operations as well as taking part in the Korean War.

Sometimes there are no good options.

In Iraq in 1991 we already had a no fly zone established. Saddam had to come to the West to get special permission to be able to fly his helicopters so he could slaughter the insurgents. There are even claims that western troops guarded weapons depots and was prepared to gun down the Iraqi resistance, so they could give back the weapons to Saddam's loyal forces rather than let them fall into the hands of the insurgents. We were not merely passive observers but active participants in genocide and the restoration of Saddam's rule. This is why I have zero tolerance for the Liberal establishment's moral hectoring.

According to the Guardian newspaper, Zelenskiy is threatening to shell the nuclear powerplant again. He believes/is betting the containment buildings will protect it. And if they don't, he can always blame it on the Russians.
