China ain't gonna use nukes. Your dishonesty is showing itself once again. You don't fight a war to occupy Taiwan to get annihilated.

China will NEVER invade Taiwan. It would hurt them far more than it could possibly help them. If you think otherwise, then you're simply a victim of Western propaganda.

Note: China hasn't been in a state of near perpetual war for the last 70 years. USA is just looking for a new war, since they left Afghanistan. What's next... Iran? China?

Fixed it for you.

@Rugoz Have you forgotten when Russia invaded Afghanistan? Have you forgotten Georgia? How about North Caucasus? Does Chechnya ring any bells? Dagestan? Tajikistan? Syria? Azerbaijan?

 You're so ignorant it's ridiculous. Russia has been in dozens of wars in the last 70 years. You're just making a "Whataboutism", in the dumbest way possible.

The last war China fought with a peer competitor it blasted ass, pushed US and its allies back all the way back to the 38th parallel in Korea. Sino-Indian war doesn't count, India was a pushover, China blasted ass without trying. Same goes with Vietnam. That was the mother of punitive campaigns. Took the entire industrial capacity of Vietnam and transported it over the border.

Meanwhile the last real opponent US fought post-ww2 was China in Korea, and it lost.

China will grow larger, Taiwan gonna get ass blasted.

The opposite. That was a special punitive operation to transplant North Vietnam's entire industrial capacity to China, as punishment for screwing with Cambodia. It succeeded. Every last tractor and piece of factory equipment was taken. Vietnam was effectively de-industrialized. Also lost every single naval engagement and multiple islands.

There used to be a gentleman's agreement between the Great Powers that proxy wars in Africa, etc were all part of the game: playing around in somebody else's backyard was a no-no.

What has been gained by ditching that?

It can only end badly.

Igor, you're such a joke.

No I just stated things as they happened. Are you implying China invaded Vietnam to annex territories? The only Vietnamese territories China is interested in are those in the SCS, and it took every one it ever fought vietnam over.

It was an operation by the then premier to punish Vietnam. Not regime change, not occupation.

Sandzak wrote:Xi's China is in economic trouble, he faces mortgage demonstrations, which is more dangerous for his and the CCP's rule then a war.

A lot of countries (all?) are approaching economic collapse.
We might be currently living through mass poisonings, seeded warring, and other State-means of killing millions of future protesters. The State would rather kill its own citizens, rather than lose its control over them. This applies to all the states involved in the current crises.

Russia can provide oil.

China has a ring of artificial islands to protect the mainland.

And let's not forget that China has strategic allies like Iran, and has done a lot of positive self-promotion around the world with its development projects and hands-off approach to coup d'états.

American officials shouldn't make provocative visits and they should stop trying to work China up over Taiwan. It's a complicated issue and all of this is actually increasing the risk of them trying to reunify by force. Look what what's happening now, they're conducting exercises right on Taiwan's coast. Do the American leadership understand anything at all? They strike me as a pack of idiots, to be quite honest. Pelosi's visit was highly irresponsible, and she won't be the one who has to deal with the consequences, she's not Taiwanese and doesn't live there. She probably knows very little about any of this either.

Look at this article, it's got some very interesting information about Taiwanese opinions on unification. A lot want to maintain de jure independence, and the KMT want good relations with Beijing. So, it's not a black and white issue and ultimately we should do all we can to prevent another war.
