A bipartisan resolution was passed by the US, formally recognizing the McMahon Line as the international boundary between China and India’s Arunachal Pradesh. The resolution rejected China’s claim that the state belongs to its territory and instead acknowledged Arunachal Pradesh as an integral part of India. Furthermore, the resolution expressed support for India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity

A very correct move on the part of the United States of America.

Now please back your words up with full-fledged military support, economic sanctions, etc.

Simple politics, end of the day. Trying to win over India. It's a Congressional resolution, not a legal judgement. A British man negotiated with a regional governor, and somehow this has any bearing on the border between India and China.

Anyway, China should accept that the region is predominately populated by people that wish to remain Indian and negotiate with the Indian government. China was seemingly fine with the line until the 60s, and even after the war withdrew to the line. Even in the 80s, China was willing to recognize it. Of course, this also means the Indian government should be willing to negotiate.

I didn't realize that this region had such an important Irish population.

May their beer be ever-green.

(settler-colonialism between the lines)

All for it, but this is just standard geopolitics that isn't going to really go anywhere. It's basically the US throwing the line "territorial integrity" back in China's face since they like to use that term (and obviously don't really care about that).

It's barb trading.
