For me? Poor Latin Americans and white Americans and African Americans, and Asian Americans who are poor saved my life countless of times. For me they are the best of people. From my family onwards.
Those who believe the poor are inferior are non thinkers.

Robert Urbanek wrote:You said you lived in a place where people "saved my life countless of times" which means your life must have been in danger "countless of times." Where was that? I have never lived in a gated community.

My parents were very poor people who came from poverty. They became who they became. I am proud they proved with their actions in life that poor people can achieve anything in this world. They are human. Poor people are human. And unfortunately many people who are arrogant people think they are not.
Empathy is important. Sympathy is only for those ignorant ones who think they are somehow better than the ones they refuse to empathize with.
No, Robert Urbanek, poor people are the best of humanity. They got to struggle and they got to use their wits, but above all they need to rely on each other and cooperate to be able to keep going in life. Rugged individualism and ignoring your neighbor is for people wealthy enough to go it alone. Most communities filled with poor people got to find a way of solving problems as a group. The rugged individualism never works when resources are scarce. Though rich people would love competition and violence to be the norm with poverty and socialism and largesse to be the norm for the wealthy. In the end? If you lack generosity in general you are wasting your life.
