Growing number of immigrants warning Americans not to take the road to communism

XI VAN FLEET: I just want to say it's so ironic. 36 years ago, I run away from socialism when I left China to come to this great country for freedom. Today, so many Americans are abandoning freedom and arriving into socialism. They have no idea what socialism is about. I lived under Mao's socialism. When the government controls everything and makes all the decisions big and small and decide how much grain, meat and cooking oil I could have. What I should learn in school, where I should live, and what job I should have and how I should think. In the socialist society I lived under, there was no choices. There is no freedom. And that's what people do not know. Socialism becomes such a diluted word and it's intentional. I can tell you, China is a socialist country. Cuba is a socialist country and so is North Korea. They are a socialist country run by communist parties. And what's the difference? What's the difference between socialism and communism? Not much. Socialism is the initial stage of communism, according to Karl Marx.

A Virginia mom who grew up under Chairman Mao’s brutal Communist regime has angrily ripped critical race theory as “the American version of the Chinese Cultural Revolution.”
“Critical race theory has its roots in cultural Marxism -- it should have no place in our schools,” Xi Van Fleet said to cheers and applause at a Tuesday meeting of the progressive Loudoun County School Board.

“You are now teaching, training our children, to be social justice warriors and to loathe our country and our history,” she told the meeting of the district already bitterly divided for pushing the policy that critics accuse of itself being racist.

“Growing up in Mao’s China, all of this seems very familiar,” insisted the mom, who finally fled China when she was 26.
“The Communist regime used the same critical theory to divide people. The only difference is they used class instead of race,” she said.

The leader of a watchdog group that monitors Christian persecution in China said he's seeing echoes of the Chinese Community Party "playbook" in the U.S., and he's worried it’ll get worse.

Bob Fu, president of the U.S.-based non-governmental Christian nonprofit ChinaAid, said he's seeing the same tactics in Western nations that the CCP uses to crack down on churches.

"The similarities are very, very striking between the Chinese Communist way of persecution and the American leftist way of restriction and even discrimination,"
Fu said he has observed with concern how the left in the U.S. is increasingly exhibiting "dictatorial" attitudes both culturally and politically by censoring speech, enforcing "woke" culture and not tolerating dissent. He pinpointed the alleged political weaponizing of federal law enforcement agencies as a worrisome escalation of such trends.

First of all , anyone who defects merely due to political disagreement should not be automatically taken to be completely objective. Also anecdote is not evidence. If I were to immigrate to a Communist ruled country, say Vietnam, as a number of Americans have done, and bad mouth the United States as being a tyrannical regime, that is on the road to fascism, I would not expect anyone in Vietnam, who has never experienced life in the U.S.A. first hand to take what I say at face value. Lastly, even more so than being affronted by some biased counter-revolutionaries with an axe to grind disparaging an ideology that I admire and would give my very life to further, if it came down to it, I feel distraught that people seem to make it out that political abuses can only stem from the left, and that by extension even center-left social democrats and social liberals are complicit in such errors. History has shown that the white terror of the right can be as oppressive as the red terror of the left, such as with barracks communism. People become so self righteous, in regards to the correctness of there own political precepts that they neglect much needed self criticism. I can and will post propaganda countering the malicious mischaracterization of the socialist republics. However, I also for the record just wish to state that any form of totalitarianism is an infringement upon the personal dignity and civil liberty of humanity.

I know very little about Russia/Former Soviet Union and it shocks me a bit that the Communist Party of Russia is still a force and a strong political movement and that a lot of people seem to want to go back to that time. But that time is almost thirty five years ago.

But I have seen interviews of people who lived in former Communist nations and they said that they miss having a cheap apartment to live in, job security, little stress to perform at that job. I have heard people say that it was easier when everyone was poor because there was no one to envy and no real need to work harder to improve their lot because there was no improvement no matter how hard they worked. A lot of older people in Soviet Russia times miss the prestige of being a powerful country no one wanted to mess with.

My biggest complaint for people who lived under East European Communism was that they couldn’t leave, or leave easily. People couldn’t leave East Germany for example. The government would counter that the West are racist enemies and also that the State spent a lot of resources on them, housing and education. You owe us. You can’t leave. At least Tito’s Yugoslavia, people could leave, Tito even welcomed it because the people can earn hard currency and then come back to spend it. But in neighboring Albania, people couldn’t even leave to go to other Communist countries. That to me is the most odious thing about Communism, most won’t let you go without a huge hassle and if you could escape the government went after your families in some fashion, from lack of jobs to close surveillance to even putting family members in prison. Plus the paranoia of all the people that someone is watching them.

Then to have to live in an economic system that just doesn’t work. People having to stand in lines for toilet paper. I have seen videos of Cubs today. The same thing. Wait in line because a store might have something and most stores selling garbage no one wants because the government made too much of it.

I live in China (typing this from here) and economic Communism has been abandoned. I don’t see why they even call themselves Communist but it’s the lone political party that controls everything. In a bar full of foreigners spending about $4 USD for a draft of beer. But I have read and heard of absolute horror stories of the way things were in the 1950’s and 1960’s. Mao was a maniac and an idiot at the same time. But the post is too long as it is so that is for another time.
