What it does show is that the wokes don't believe in civil rights.

After all, it seems curricular decisions that limit speech are totally acceptable if they exist to enforce their ideology.

The same can be said for, based on earlier posts in this thread:

1) The right to healthcare: Hormone treatments for aiding trans teens in their transition are a civil right, but not for cis teens who want to access hormone treatments to exacerbate their secondary sexual characteristics)

2) The right to free speech: It is an intolerable limitation of speech to bar minors from attending public drag performances but it is perfectly fine to bar them from accessing an openly racist protest; it is also an intolerable violation of free speech to bar minors from choosing their preferred pronouns but it totally fine to bar them from choosing no pronouns.

3) The right to privacy: There is no right to privacy in locker rooms based on sex

4) Freedom of association: It is unacceptable for sports leagues and other extracurricular activities to have sex divisions but it is totally acceptable to bar private and public schools from allowing homeschooled children from participating in their sports teams or other activities

You are not too different from DeSantis it seems :)

"When we're only teaching them that one master narrative, that's the master narrative that is around in society too, because they grow up, and then they teach their kids that, and that's how they approach the world. That's how they engage with other people. That's what they see as normal. That's what they see as standard. That's what they see as law. It's all based on white supremacy culture," Shirude explained to the South Seattle Emerald.

This framework has hurt Seattle students.

As noted in Luke Rosiak's book Race To The Bottom, black students' state math exam scores in these pilot programs plummeted to shocking lows. After years of consistent progress at John Muir Elementary, for example, the passing rate for black students fell from 28 percent to 18 percent after the introduction of the ethnic studies framework.

The Vancouver, Washington, school board director moved to dramatically alter advanced classes because too many white kids were enrolled. He would force the higher achievers into classrooms with underachievers to meet the district's equity commitment.

Meanwhile, the Democrat-controlled Oregon legislature passed a law ending a high school graduation requirement that students demonstrate proficiency in math (along with reading and writing) after minority students failed at high rates.

Momentum is on the side of the Left, which seeks to dismantle our education systems and rebuild them on their own terms. They've seen victories in the Pacific Northwest. DeSantis should be lauded for taking them on.

Yep, The Woke ideology doesn't cause harm... Surely DeSantis's popularity cannot be connected to this, in any way.

Did a bit of research on the Oregon claim and it's simply a misunderstanding of the issue.

That's the problem with all this anti-woke right wing news bullshit. They're not interested in the truth, they want to be outraged about something.

The Newsweek opinion piece is not even internally consistent, as far as I can tell.

The woman teaching the math elective course may not have anything to do with the pilot program. If it is, the pilot program would only be available for older grades. John Muir Elementary would not have this course, and therefore the pilot program could not have caused the drop in grades.

Where's the breast binder isle at Walmart? Is it next to the Tower of Power?

And yes, kids can and do have confidentiality rights. Should it be illegal for schools to follow the existing confidentiality laws?

So permission slips for field trips, but binders and gender changes ok no probs bob.

So for example, why is it OK to let a trans teenager decide to start hormone treatment to block puberty but it's not OK to allow a male cis teenager who's insecure about being scrawny take steroids to build muscle, get leaner and thereby look more masculine?

Give your children steroids. It will be totally healthy for them. Pro wrestlers aren't dying from years of the stuff. Blocking puberty? Totally normal and healthy, nothing to see here!

Just make a law forcing everyone to move out of Portland and Seattle and nuke the cities. Washington and Oregon are failed states. It's like driving through A Clockwork Orange.

You can not be seriously arguing this.

Yes.

Chest binders and private discussions with social workers entail no risks, while a field trip to the local swimming pool does.

So you seem to be arguing that Desantis is making good policy decisions that should be supported because chest binders and private discussions with social workers are a much greater evil than civil rights violations. Is that correct?

No risks? You're delusional! This kid attempted suicide two times because of this indoctrination! You have have no morals. You are so far down the Woke rabbit-hole that you've abandoned all sense.

There are no civil rights violations. You're making up lies to push your agenda.

Mother: teachers manipulated child to change gender identity
The teachers were placed on administrative leave in November. They had attended the conference on their own time, but the district said, “many of the comments and themes stated in the article are alarming, concerning, disappointing” and didn’t reflect their policies.

The district hired a law firm to investigate, which is ongoing, and the UBU club was suspended.

Konen was applauded when she blasted school board members at a meeting in December, saying the teachers took away her ability to parent.

Superintendent Eric Tarallo said the legal claim would be addressed in the judicial system and personnel policies prevented him from revealing if the teachers were back at school. He said the district was reviewing and updating policies on student clubs.

The California Teachers Association said the conference was one of dozens each year that, in part, help educators understand the need to protect students from discrimination, including sexual orientation and gender identity or expression.

It criticized the group bringing the lawsuit, which it noted is using the case to raise money for its cause.

Breast binding is nothing new in history. Plus can you imagine what it would have been like had the reactionary right prevailed in the 20's , when not only chest binders , but also bobbed hair was in vogue ? I think that it would have ended up proceeding along similar lines to how the Weimar Republic in Germany transformed itself into the Third Reich, in part as a reaction against the sociocultural changes at the time. https://fashionista.com/2017/04/bob-short-haircut-hairstyle-history , https://hist259.web.unc.edu/the-sex-reform-movement-in-weimar-germany-1919-1933/ , https://encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/article/culture-in-the-third-reich-overview , https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/guides/zpb9fcw/revision/3 , https://www.encyclopedia.com/fashion/encyclopedias-almanacs-transcripts-and-maps/fascist-and-nazi-dress

Kids, we simply don't know enough.

One of my pet peeves is that the safety and efficacy that is usually required of medical treatments, is incomplete.

The Right wing outrage machine has taken advantage of this. But while it's clear we can't speak authoritatively as to the best ways to proceed with sexual issues, what the Right wants to do is basically the opposite of what a decent human being should consider.

I'm prob the only guy here that has been shot full of girl hormones. It was part of my cancer treatment. It was horrible. But I can't extrapolate out from my experience, a person seeking sex change prob has low T.

This leaves me with a lot of questions for which I don't have answers.

Meanwhile, the rage rolls on, be careful.

If the alternative to being happy with fascism means being called “woke” and being vilified, then so be it.

If the people do not initially realize what all fascism is, and would entail, then I could certainly see how it could on the surface appeal to popular sentiment. I mean if you hadn't known that this address, taken from the film " Iron Sky" , was made by space Nazis, might you be initially taken in by such propagandistic platitudes ? It's as the old saying goes...
