Negotiator wrote:Who would do that ? Its collapsing on its own right now. And it does so like all empires before that: by military overextension.

The USA has around a thousand military outposts around the world, a serious recruitment problem for their military, and has exhausted its military reserves in Ukraine. Now they are already looking to engage China, and they have the near east problem as well. All the while their military industrial complex is privately owned and works for profit, not for winning wars.

The current US elites, specifically the Biden administration, lacks all understanding that they are living on a finite planet with finite resources. As somebody recently pointed out so well, their modus operandi is "triumph of the will" (infamous nazi propaganda movie by Leni Riefenstahl), or "Where there is a will, there is a way". They forget that the other side has just as much will. And, because the west has lost its advantage in technology and advancement, just as much ability. And, because the USA rather lacks in regards to remaining local cudes, the west has rather less materials to build military goods, than more. Additionally, as I said, while the russian military industrial complex also usually makes a profit, they are mostly state owned and thus actually primarily serve to win wars, not to make money.

Both Trump and RFK jr dont want to continue to run the USA as an empire. And for some strange reason the democratic party decided to run with Biden again, no matter his obvious dementia. So as far as I can see, the multipolar world will be officially on in January 2025.

That is a great assessment. I do not live in the USA anymore.

I paid for my home completely. My vehicle is paid for. My water bill is about $7 dollars a month. My garbage pick up bill is $1.50 dollars a month, my cell phone bill is $10 dollars a month. I have an interpretation and translation of documents business that is really nice. It pays me consistently every two weeks whether I have to work or not that week. And I have a social security income and so does my husband. And my son too. I also rent out a touristic house in the most pretty colonial area of this city in Mexico (Mérida) that I live in. That is another income.

I left the rat race in the USA. I use my tax refund check from the US government to pay my taxes here in Mexico and to save up money for long vacations.

How many worries do I have about who is going to take over Washington DC?

Not much. I vote as I always do. Against anything that is even slightly fascist or conservative. They suck. Always cutting funds for the basic needs of most of their citizens and always being assholes and never accomplishing much.

The two party stupidity gridlock in DC is for the American people to do something about.

If they want to back fucking Nazis, or be some fools thinking a conman from Queens has the answer to their constant warmongering. Is it my beef? No.

I am getting ready to take the Mexican citizenship exam. For some reason some fools think I am Mexican. I am not. I am Puerto Rican. Which makes me a statutory US citizen. So I can vote in US elections and Mexican ones once I become a citizen. Double votes. Both for the LEFT. Hard left. Forever.

Let them scramble with violence and paranoia about the Latin Americans. I do not give a shit. A bunch of stupid people. They either make peace with the Latinos in the USA or they go bankrupt trying to get rid of them.

If they spend $2000 US dollars per Latino to be expelled out of the USA? You are looking about 65 million times $2000? They need to spend $130,000,000,000 dollars on that. Plus the personnel and housing all of those people. If they become violent pigs? they start killing them. Another cost.

Meanwhile to think the rest of the nations on this side of the world is going to allow killing of Latinos in the USA with impunity is a total stupid thought.

International pressure will come down on them and there will be fights until no tomorrow. And violent shit in the streets for years. Instability. The US loses its place in the world order and they lose everything.

They should stop all this warmongering and concentrate on productive activity and decent infrastructure projects. They can't. Too committed to evil war projects.

Ukraine has definitely found something that is working WELL ! Moscow's economy shrank by about one third as a result of the sanctions put in place back in 2014, after Putin decided to annex Crimea. The sanctions put in place in 2022 are much more comprehensive.

This is what confuses some people. Empires never serve regular people. The people served in these empires are always a small elite at the top, and the rest of the population, even their own people, suffer for the benefits of this group.

That was true for the roman empire, the UK empire, and the spanish / portugese empire.

So no I dont think life in the USA will get worse for the average person; I'm rather hopeful that it will finally get better again. It stopped doing so in the 1970s.

And theres some hope that there will be no more such empires in the future.

I do not know what is going to happen in the US scene with confidence. A lot of people are voting for someone that is a complete failure at any real morality or principles of governance.

And his followers have committed to being violent if they do not win. So anything is possible.

Who knows what will happen?

People want to believe in lies Negotiator. Only when they lose something they value highly do they start thinking their way of thought might be defective.

So, getting back to the topic of the Russian Ukrainian War, there are two narratives about the causes of the Russian-Ukrainian War. The first narrative about the cause of the current Russian Ukrainian war is that the West made Putin. The second narrative about the cause of the Russian Ukrainian War was this is a war of Russian imperialism for rebuilding the Russian Empire and make it more powerful to challenge NATO states and eventually take back the Baltics. Which narrative do you think most closely matches the true reason for the Russia Ukraine War?

Shortly after the collapse of the USSR, a conservative writer for the NYT wrote that Russian history and culture would result in the return of strongman rule.

He was right.

Imperialism is when you exploit other countries.

First of all, to Russia, Ukraine is NOT "another country". Its literally the core homeland, where the Rus once originated. Until 1991, for over 300 years, it was part of Russia. No less than 30% of the citizen of Ukraine speak russian as their mother tongue; in east Ukraine, they are the majority, and many of them, including Zelensky, even outright identify as russians, not ukrainians.

Russia and Ukraine are closer than for example Germany and Austia.

Russia has already raised productivity in Crimea to the level of Russia, has already promised to do the same to the four new regions - and I have no reason to doubt they want to do it there, too - and if they take over any other part of Ukraine - which I think is likely to happen - I also believe they would do build those parts up, too.

So no, I dont see this as imperialism. Russias motive is simply to protect their people - ethnic russians - from being targeted by ukrainian nazis. Permanently. Since Ukriane apparently cant be trusted with that.

I was recently quite shocked that Niger until their recent sold their uranium to France for Eurocents per kilogram. This is an example of imperalism. This is exploitation. Niger now sells their uranium on the international market for 200 euros per kilogram, which is the usual price, and hopefully this will help Niger to build a brighter future.

Really this claim of russian imperialism is another example of the west thinking that other people think like they do. For the west, especially the Biden administration, is still imperalistic. So why wouldnt Russia, China, and other BRICS states ?

Aha. :knife:

So I persume you want the weakman and drunkard Boris Jeltzin back ? The one that could get pushed around so nicely by the west.

And I assume you just greatly enjoy the rule of the USA by the weakman Biden, with everthing he touches turning into garbage.

And shiver in fear that strongmans of the past of the USA, like for example Abraham Lincoln or John F. Kennedy, may ever return. :O

Listen, at the end of the day would you feel brotherly love or "same country" love to somebody who already waged 2 wars against you in the last decade while stealing territory, in-sighting riots and bombing your cities for the last 2+ years every night?

Yet the Germans eventually came to accept the Allied victory and even joined up with them after their defeat. Lol.

The equivalent would be Ukraine conquering Moscow, removing Putin and his cronies and reestablishing Russian democracy.

No it wouldn't. The equivalent would involve China conquering Moscow and then the majority of Moscow being set up as a western controlled zone inside a Chinese controlled province.

Yes obviously people like Goering and Himmler couldn't be left free to be run around. Those top Nazis had to be executed or imprisoned for life. But the whole deNazificaton progamme was a silly pathetic virtue signalling operation. The large majority of the Nazi ideologues remained Hitler fans till the day they died. This didn't stop the vast majority of the surviving young and middle aged Nazi officials going on to have successful careers in the Federal Republic.

What was actually achieved by the huge loss of life and suffering caused by the two World Wars? France got Alsace Lorraine back and Britain got to keep its Empire for an extra couple of decades. France formed the Franco-Russian alliance in-order to get back Alsace Lorraine. Britain jumped into bed with the French and the Russians, because they quite rightly saw the rising economic power of Germany as a fatal threat to the British Empire. The assassination of Arch Duke Ferdinand was proactive murder backed by Russia, which itself was backed by France. The bullets fired in Sarajevo were in effect fired from Paris. The German leadership responded in a high handed manner, lacking finesse, walked into the trap and the French and British nationalist extremists like Winston Churchill got the war they wanted.

Nice. Good idea. Would require the West and China to divide Russia in to two separate states and occupy it for some time while hanging all of the main functionaries of the regime. I am down for that.

Which is why I consider you an enemy and a traitor. I consider you a traitor to the western alliance, a traitor to democracy. you are an enemy of my nation, an enemy of our democracy and an enemy to all Buddhists and Hindus. You are a peddler of the most vile appeasement of Nationalist Socialist Settler Imperialist China and Muslim terrorist oppressor murderers.

The thing about Winston Churchill is anyone is free to invoke his name and he's not around to contradict them. but prior to WWI he correctly recognised that the rise of Germany was the greatest threat to the British Empire. In the latter part of the Second World War he recognised that Nazi and imperial Japanese defeat was now inevitable and it was the Soviet Union that going forward would be the greatest threat to the British empire, British power and British Liberal Democracy. I would like to think that if he were alive today he would be smart enough to recognise China and Muslims as our greatest external enemies.
