Since I have already made it clear that I never claimed that specific businesses have pressured universities to punish students for anti-Israel speech, I am more than happy to agree that that particular claim is unsupported and can be dismissed.

There have been thousands of arrests.

How many of those arrests have led to convictions of trespassing, harassment and disruption of university operations?

A quick glance at Google shows that many were arrested, while few are being charged. This indicates that the arrests were punitive rather than based on anything substantial.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) when a student holding a J-1 or F-1 nonimmigrant visa has participated in activity in support of, or as an endorsement of, a foreign terrorist organization.
Empower the Secretary of State to revoke the student visa upon verification of such participation.
Mandate the Secretary of Homeland Security to initiate removal proceedings for the student.

First of all, this is from the website of the politician himself, so this is his own words and this is clearly meant to target the protests against Israel.

Secondly, there is no trial here. The protester can be kicked out of the country through “verification”.

Third, it is unclear what support or endorsement of a terrorist group might mean.

So we see that there are at least four different groups with a vested inter in stopping the protests and stifling debate.

These groups are Zionists donors, Republican and Democrat politicians, companies with ties to the IDF, and the universities themselves.

All four if these groups enjoy more societal and economic power than the protesters themselves, and in the case of government officials, the use of government power to suppress debate is anti-democratic.

The majority of Columbia student protesters are getting their charges dropped. This suggests that the arrests were not because of any provable criminal activity. So it is plausible that these arrests were punitive.

So we have many examples of students being punished for criticizing Israel. There are also the doxxed students, and the ones harassed by counter protesters, and those assaulted by counter protesters.

The number of students punished for criticizing Israel is definitely in the hundreds, perhaps thousands.
