"In general, Ukraine’s positions in August have deteriorated rapidly.”

The situation is so bad that some Ukrainian observers simply refuse to comment on it.

“The topic is slippery, I don’t want to breed treason,” one military expert said.

Very, very strange. While so many liberal commentators were saying its all over for Putin with Kursk, we now see the Russians taking back significant territory in Kursk while continuing to advance in the south. As I've said, I don't see Povrovske falling anytime soon, I see its another benchmark setup to fail for the Russians. The Liberals must always have some good news, even if that good news is essentially Russia failing to achieve the impossible. Using this sort of idiotic logic, the Ukrainians failing to get into Crimea in the winter of 22/23 was a great Russian victory Remember the Ukrainian deputy defence minister said Ukraine could be in Crimea by Christmas.

While not marking the end of the world I would consider the loss by Ukraine now of any of Myrnohrad, Novoekonmichne or, Malynivka as a serious loss. Similarly the loss of any of Selydove, Ukrainske or Hirnyk. The loss of Vuledhar would also be a major set back.

Ukraine has gained more territory in 3 Days,Than Moscow empire has advanced in 2024. Any questions?
Kursk update :

han- Chinese academic Deng Xize : " modern technology and the international ethical environment led to the inevitable death of the Mongol- Muscovy empire, while similar empires will no longer come back."

It was certainly a brilliant operation by the Ukrainians and in terms of what we've seen over the last eighteen months, it captured a lot of ground. It should be noted though that in terms of settlements captured it was a lot more modest. Still it was a major set back for Russia.

Unfortunately for the Ukrainian irredentists, they faced a leader with nerves of steel in the form of Vladimir Putin, so they don't seem to have got the strategic game changer they were hoping for. The hope for the Biden-Harris administration was that Ukraine would hold significant 1991 Russian territory at the time of the November elections. However that can not be taken as certain.

what kind of pills do you take usually  ? putin was a Sobchak mafia fixer , he doesn't have A strategy , knows nothing about ours 8)
In the Ukraine war, the United States has developed a novel strategy: boiling the frog. If Moscow leader Vladimir Putin feels the full brunt of Western capabilities at once, the thinking goes, he may react unpredictably.

Putin's reaction? If the West attacks 'Russia proper', Kyiv and Lviv are toast.

Ukrainian insiders have also talked about using the threat of long-range missiles against Russia to try to force an end to the war, through a “demonstration strike” that would make clear to the Kremlin that it is possible to threaten the heartlands around Moscow. It is not obvious if Moscow would react so benignly, however, which may be why Burns, starkly, said the west should not be intimidated by Russian threats of nuclear escalation, raising the possibility that Putin may do just that.

Another really enlightening but in the end of course also very depressing interview about decision making in current Washington, with many comparisons how historic US presidents like Eisenhower and JFK have made military decisions, compared to how it is done nowadays.

https://rumble.com/v5enp85-ukraine-conf ... src_v1_ucp

Eisenhower, JFK etc talked with the actual people who experienced the wars, nevermind they both participated in WW2 themselves. They knew what was going on on the actual ground. JFK had realized that Vietnam was a failure, and wanted to get out of Vietnam. Unfortunately he was of course murdered before he could actually get out of Vietnam.

The current US elites block themselves from anyone with actual skill and experience. If you havent gone to the right universities, you will be ignored. They happily live in their own echo chamber and dont even notice that Ukraine is only the last neocon color revolution project that has not failed yet, but will predictably fail soon as well.

The conclusion is the same as always - this war will end militarily. There will only be total capitulation, after many more people have pointlessly died.

It was a huge mistake -- to waste best units for dumb pointless operation like capturing small part of Russia near Kursk.
Soon Bandereich will pay huge price for that mistake!

It wasn't, it was a really good idea actually to boost Ukrainian moral. Also showed how weak Putin is and how useless are the talk about endless resources of Russia. And now they will get long range attack permission inside Russia with ATACMs and JASM because of Iran. All going according to plan.

The West are mad to gamble everything they have for the shithole that is Ukraine.

Vladimir Putin has already said that a Western move to let Kyiv use longer-range weapons against targets inside Russia would mean NATO would be “at war” with Moscow and he would use everything he has in his arsenal - nuclear, biological, and chemical - if they were daft enough to allow it.
