Ukrainian Army was de facto the largest force NATO could assemble in Europe to fight Russia. Germany, France and UK together could match maybe 15% of their ground forces. We’re talking 130+ brigades and shitload of smaller units.

And Russians just squashed it without even properly mobilising. They might’ve faced difficulties but at no point, not even in late 2022, were they close to being defeated on the battlefield in total.

Only thing they lacked really was air power, but the idea air power would play decisive role in a conflict with such density of air defenses is another wishful imagination.

They more than made up that deficiency by the fact Ukrainians knew how to fight, they had years worth of experience, and their government had no qualms about shedding enormous quantity of blood.

This is why “NATO intervention” is such a laughable proposition. Even in simplistic terms, NATO lacks the forces to decisively intervene in Ukraine. In more complex practice, the idea UK or Germany could send all of their whooping 11 brigades they have together to Ukraine is laughable.

NATO was defeated. It’s over.

With existing oil revenues rising, back to pre-war levels - there is a lot of mileage yet in the regime, 3-5 years perhaps?

The long term damage is however, real and irreparable. The falling birth rate, the transition to a war time economy and the evisceration of working and skilled people in the trenches of Ukraine - will be Putin’s ultimate undoing.

Perhaps even an exit on par with Ceaușescu.

Btw the Duran reported that Putin said that additionally to the already known terms for peace (neutrality, denazification, recognition of Crimea and the four regions etc), also all regions of Ukraine will have to be given the choice to join Russia, too.

The problem with this statement is that Odessa is also russian dominated and a traditional russian region and thus likely to return to Russia, which after all promises not just a complete rebuild, but also that the region will be raised to the economic level of the rest of Russia, far above the current level of Ukraine; just like it has already happened in Crimea and how it is already underway in the four new regions.

However if Odessa joins Russia as well, Ukraine will be a landlocked country, completely dependent upon Russia for exporting anything through the black sea. At that point you really could say that the remaining Ukraine would be a complete ruin; an insignificant country.

Also any ukrainian soil that would be owned by Blackrock and other western companies would be void; or at least I would be very surprised if Russia would recognize any such wartime claims on their soil.

Rugoz wrote:Given Russia has violated every agreement made with Ukraine, I suppose this is another one of your dumb attempts at acting contrarian.

I understand that someone in Trump's team has said they want to pull Russia away from North Korea, Iran and China. If this really is one of the new administrations aims, and it quite possibly isn't, but if it is then it will be necessary to win Russia's trust. So many of the Liberals could not contain their joy at the thought that Russia could be reduced to a vassal state of China. Maybe things have gone too far, but what ever the case Russia's closer alliance with China, North Korea and Iran is a very bad thing.

This thing with the Korean soldiers seems to have really shaken people up. I wouldn't make any claim to know the truth of the situation, but some are interpreting this not as Russia reduced to be China's vassal, but that Russia has stolen China's north Korean client from under their nose. This situation is a terrible mess and its not at all clear how we get out of it. Aside from humanitarian concerns we want peace for 2 reasons. We want to stop pushing Russia into ever closer alliance with China, North Korea and Iran. But secondly we want to secure what's left of Ukraine's agriculture and primary resources. We need them to be secure so as they can be developed.

The West's leaders failed when, barring some outliars like Hungary and Slovakia on one extreme and Estonia and Finland on the other, when they were reasonably united. This doesn't bode well for the future where the United States and most of European leaders maybe trying to achieve different and incompatible outcomes.

Donald Trump called Putin and told him "not to escalate the war in Ukraine" - Washington Post.
It gets interesting. So far Biden/Sullivan considered that only Ukraine was "escalating"... IF ITS TRUE, Saddam Putsein is gonna live with chronic cognitive dissonance 4 years at least ....

I'm hoping the Trump administration will recogonise reality. Zelensky doesn't want peace. Starmer doesn't want peace. Niether do Macron or Scholtz. There are many in the Baltics that don't want peace. Even Linus Torvalds seems hungry for war with Russia. No attempt to find peace should be made until the Ukrainain leadership ask for it. However the reset with Russia shouldn't wait on demented Europeans. The US money and weapon supply to Ukraine should be stopped and the vast bulk of the US sanctions against Russia lifted.

In a way this reminds me a bit of the Iraq occupation. I was one of the few latter day John the baptists who cried in out the political wilderness, make thy ways straight for the Shia Militias. The Sunni Arab and Turkoman communities in Iraq didn't want America's protection. They didn't want peace. So why waste American lives and treasure giving them help that wasn't wanted.

Heavy casualties sustained by orc horde , FOR HOW LONG CAN Moscow despot run this freak show ?
"The footage published by the enemy shows an attempted breakthrough by the soldiers of the 810th Separate Guards Brigade of Marine Corps, decorated with the Orders of Zhukov and Ushakov, in the village of Pogrebki.

What you see in the footage is the result of yet another lie from the local command to the General Staff. False information had previously been reported that the road (where equipment was later blown up) had come under our control. Logically, after receiving this information, the General Staff issued an order to storm the settlement. Before the attack, no one even thought to clear the road of mines...

In general, deliberate disinformation from the General Staff by the command of the 810th Brigade has become a routine practice.

//Lying is not allowed. But deceiving the General Staff for medals and career advancement— is that acceptable?"

Mainstream news is currently full of Fake News. Really hard to figure out what Trump is ACTUALLY doing. For example that telephone call with Putin definitely didnt happen; the "evidence" is unknown sources and Russia denies it.

https://tass.com/politics/1870441

But apparently Ukraine will most likely be handled by vice president elect J.D.Vance, who has acquired extensive expertise on the subject.

About people who want to continue the war, just give them one of those german guns who cant shoot straight and a train ticket to the frontline. I'm sure they'll be happy to act on their words.

So there are these reports of Donald Trump asking Russia not to escalate. Now I don't know if these reports are actually true, this just maybe Neo Con disinformation seeking to drive the Trump administration into a war with Russia. But regardless of their accuracy, I find it very strange that so many of the Liberals are applauding this. The Liberals have told us over and over and over again that Russia is incapable of escalating. The Liberals doubt that Russia's nuclear weapons would even work. So what would be the point of Trump asking the Russians not to do something their incapable of?

Zelensky and his western Liberal cheer leaders have been absolutely adamant that Ukraine must not negotiate from any position of strength. If Ukraine has any strength they must aim for total victory and the destruction of Russia. Zelensky has essentially said that he will only consider negotiating if the Ukrainian defence lines on the point of collapse. We need to be wary, Zelensky and his Liberal enablers may be trying to pull a Ludendorff. Ludendorff also adamantly refused to negotiate. Only when the German war effort was on the verge of collapse did he do a sudden about face and demanded that the German centre and Socialist parties negotiate a ceasefire and a peace. Ludendorff and the German right then blamed those parties for the terrible peace deal.

We must beware. Zelensky and the Liberals have led Ukraine to disaster. I think they will try and blame their defeat on Trump.

Instead of repeating the same garbage over and over again, show us the evidence that Russia was at any point willing to negotiate in good faith (i.e. not demanding a de facto capitulation).

Of course if Ukraine loses this war, it was all for nothing from an Ukrainian perspective, although some might disagree with that. But the outcome isn't certain. Everybody who says otherwise is dishonest.

First off we owe Ukraine absolutely nothing. Ukraine are in this mess because of their own cowardice, corruption and incompetence and the glaring fact that a large part of its population had greater allegiance to Moscow than Kiev.

Go back to 2014. What kind of nation state loses a 27000km² territory with a 2 million+ population "without a shot being fired"? If the Ukrainians cared so much about their territorial integrity and international law, they should never have lost Crimea in the first place. The British government got criticised for allowing Argentine to sieze control of the Falkland Islands, 68 Marines, twelve thousand kilomemtres away from Britain, still manged more of a fight than Ukraine managed over Crimea. Having just seen Crimea siezed from under their noses the Ukrainian government then managed to lose control of most of the Donbas.

Well at least the Ukrainians have learnt their lesson now? 2021 and early 2022, no full scale invasion, but the Russians do build up a 190000 strike force mainly concentrated in the north and in Crimea. This must have been the most telegraphed surprise attack in history. The Russian build up took months, after months, all the while the American government is giving a play by play account of the build up. My guess is that the Americans spooked Putin into attacking early before they were really ready, so thoroughly penetrated by spies was the Russian military security apparatus. But what ever.

How do the Ukrainian government respond? Do they at least part mobilise? Do they deploy their forces to defend against the attacks from the north and out of Crimea. No they basically do their level best to leave the door wide open. Short of putting a great big sign on the outskirts of Kiev saying "Welcome home Mr Putin", I'm not sure what more the Ukrainian government could have done to signal their willingness to collaborate with a Russian invasion. This is why General Miley briefed the Congress, with the incredible assessment that Kiev might fall in three or four days.

OMG ! Mainstream media was never THIS funny. Just fake news over fake news about Trump. No chance to know what actually is happening. :D I hope Trump doesnt actually include any unreformed neocons in his government.

And they cant stop talking about NK soldiers who are supposed to fight in the SMO. Despite the fact that would make no sense whatsoever, militarily. And despite lack of any actual evidence for this happening.

Oh and the NK soldiers are by the way the uber soldiers ! Invincible ! While russians totally suck ! LOL ! :D

Useless then when as Mrs Merkel told us any agreements Ukraine made with Russia post-2014 were signed in bad faith and made to be broken.

Why would Putin trust them not to play the same trick thrice?

very big news here :

the Moscow film factory ("Mosfilm" ) handed over 28 T-55 tanks and eight PT-76 tanks, as well as other military equipment to the Moscow imperial army
https://x.com/PetrenkoAndryi/status/1856724632805487061
The transfer of outdated military equipment, including T-55 tanks and PT-76 vehicles, from Mosfilm’s storage to the Moscow imperial army underscores the lengths to which Moscow khan is going to bolster its forces amidst prolonged conflict, utilizing even non-military assets.
