Rich wrote:Look Litwin I understand it is a personal humiliation for you, and no doubt for many other Liberals, to see settlement, after settlement, after settlement fall. Fall to the people you consider to be Asiatic sub humans.

The fall of Bakhmut was a humiliation, but you were able to ignore by saying just wait for the greatest counter offensive ever, after Bakhumt the Russians will have no troops left to fight. Then the greatest counter offensive proved to be a humiliating failure as well. But you said ignore that, forget about Robotyne look at Krynky. And then you lost Avdiivkha and you were forced to abandon the lower east bank of the Dnieper, but you said ah, ha, ha, the Russians have lost so many troops that taking Avdiivka is really a defeat for Russia, we'll just set up another defence line a few kilometres back that will last for years. But that defence lasted weeks not years, and then another line fell and then another.

So then you said forget about all that look at Kursk. We're not just going to regain all our lost territory, we're going to take provinces from Russia as well. But now as things deteriorate in the south, even Kursk is turning into another humiliating defeat by these so called sub humans. You seem to have run out of diversions.

Keep your Syrian copium out of the Ukraine thread.

WHY your rats (Iranian - Moscow imperialists ) are in the run ?

I am still getting caught up myself..! I went to bed around midnight after listening to a podcast and doing the dishes, and I woke up and saw all sorts of crazy stuff on social media and the news.

Fortunately, this had zero impact on my daily life because the situation had already been resolved and there's no real will for anyone to come to blows to defend Yoon.

He has been denounced broadly by conservatives, including some who went out to Yeoido at midnight to protest and obstruct the military who were blocking off parliament. It was a relatively easy affair to assemble Parliament and resolve the martial law declaration and included members of Yoon's own PPP.

The very head of the PPP has called for the immediate firing of the Minister of Defense who recommended this action, and has asked Yoon to explain himself. The subtext is that this is pretty inexplicable, of course, and the PPP will likely be in general agreement over the impeachment of Yoon. We may have to have a by-election or interim President for the second time in a decade over this.

Completely wild, lol, but fortunately there will likely be no violence or anything.

Yoon will not be President for long.

And now there are barrels & barrels of digital ink being spilled over this all in the Koreasphere. I will try to keep abreast of it, lol.

Zelensky is a pathological liar. So are his western liberal cheer leaders. One of their big lies that they tell is that Ukraine gave up nuclear weapons for false assurances. The Ukrainian government never gave up nuclear weapons, because the Ukrainian government never had nuclear weapons. Russia inherited the Soviet Union's nuclear command. Shocking as this may be to Liberals the Soviet Union did not apply devolution to its nuclear forces command. Now maybe Liberals think it would be good if the United States divided up its nuclear weapons among the states, Maybe Britain should give control of one of its Trident submarines to Andy Burnham. But good or bad the Soviet Union was not fundamentally different to the United States, Britain or France in this respect.

Ukraine did not control nuclear weapons, it did not have the administrative infrastructure to manage a nuclear arsenal and its doubtful it even had a reliable conventional military that could seize or fight for control of the nuclear weapons on its soil even if one thought that, that was a good idea. Kravchuk signed the Budapest memorandum for the money. The Ukrainian government had realised that in the state of the country becoming a nuclear power was not realistic. Kruvchuk knew full well that the security promises were empty.

But this is the best bit. It was President Obama, in 2013, probably under the influence of the Neo Cons, that ripped up the Budapest memorandum, by putting Belarus under sanctions in clear violation of article 3.

So what was Russia's net advance in November? The Guardian sourcing from the ISW said it was 1202km². Couldn't find the source page within the ISW. I was surprised by this, I was expecting 800-900km². Another site backed up this claim, but then a third site had a 640km² (or there abouts) figure. If we are to start moving towards negotiated ceasefire then its important to know Russia's rate of advance.

Johnson is scum. Perfect man for the job. He said today that he’s onboard with slashing mandatory entitlements for old people, poor people, and sick people. Of course, billionaires still get their tax cuts and Elon Musk gets his billions in defense contracts. They call this “government efficiency.”

Republicans need 218 votes in House and have 220 seats. We need only 3/220 to block this. If this goes through, they will be destroyed in the 2026 midterms.

@Hakeer :

How can you hypocritically speak of Johnson on board with cutting programs while being on the side of the Western imperialists in the Ukrainian conflict? No, thats Neoconservatism Insane McCain style in Liberal camouflage.

Nobody gets anywhere socially if we keep fighting WW3 and risking nuclear war. Is that the legacy you want to leave?

I told you months ago that I opposed U.S. wars in Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan. I oppose Israel war crimes in Gaza. And Russia invasion of Ukraine. I oppose military imperialism anywhere and everywhere.

The way to avoid escalation is for all sides to get their military back inside their own border, and that includes N. Korea.

It seems to me this is essentially over now, Trump will call off the war and tell Ukraine to surrender when he takes office, if Ukraine refuses he will cut off the arms so they are litterally unable to carry on.

The war has served its purpose, the US have propped up Ukraine long enough for Russia to use almost all of their Soviet arms stockpile and exhaust themselves too much to fight more wars in the near future. The yanks have gained two new vassals in NATO with Finland and Sweden and everyone in NATO who was still using some ex Soviet stuff has donated it to Ukraine so they will be buying lots more US arms in future. Good times for the merchants of death, the arms shareholders must be living on champagne and caviar.

Now the situation in Europe is settled for a long time in the future the US will be free to redeploy forces from Europe to Asia to try to put China off from reuniting with Taiwan. They also managed to do it all without sending a single US soldier, sailor or airman to their graves, they really could not have played this any better. Russia is leaving this war much weaker than they were at the start and the American NATO vassal swarm is much stronger with higher military spending and far higher readiness. Also Germany has been moved further away from Russia with the mysterious destruction of the Nord Stream pipeline (que bono?) making their Russian gas imports drop to zero meaning they have no reason for a future détente with Russia.

If Zelenski tries to keep fighting past Trump cutting off aid his own people will probably pull a Mussolini on him for how it's all went on him so in his shoes I would jet off to the US somewhere I am sure there is a payment and a dacha waiting for him for all the good he has done for American interests. Maybe a position on the board at Raytheon?
How fascist do we think Ukraine will go after the war anyway? There will be revanchism and there will be a stab in the back myth (well it won't be a myth this time) about how the US used them and dumped them and loads of mentally ill traumatised ex soldiers and civilians. Total Germany after the First World War vibes.

Credit where it is due to the US they could not have done a better job of this. Giving Ukraine just enough military aid to keep them in the fight to maximise the length of the war and the amount of Russian equipment destroyed without actually giving them enough to win was calculated just right. Some smart people work over at the Pentagon and of course they will have used this as a good test bed to learn more about modern warfare (especially drones) ready for a future conflict with China.
Viewed on a pure balance of forces basis the yanks have won and the Russians have lost. They will control a bit more land (a blasted wasteland with every settlement shelled into cinders) but are they are not really any better off and of course Ukraine has won nothing. Whoever organised Maidan over at the CIA must be feeling really smug right now.

Sucks for all the dead Russians and Ukrainians of course but I don't think the US government considers European lives to hold any value so I doubt they will loose sleep over it.

Edit: Spelling (Christ some things never change...)

Do you watch any of those YouTube videos about how badly the war is going for Russia? Ukraine will continue getting military aid from Europe. It could go either way even if Trump does nothing.

Ukraine have already lost half of their salient in southern Kursk and are also being pushed back in the east as well. If they are being pushed back with all the American cash and equipment arriving all the time what makes you think they will start doing much better without it?

They can’t take conscription down from 25 year olds and up to 18 year olds and up without the economy totally crashing, where do you think they will get the men to keep fighting or the equipment to arm them? Europe does not have enough to arm them alone without the yanks (not to mention the fact European nations will want to start using their industry to arm their own forces.
