Well I remember he was a trifle premature in his annoucnment of the capture of Marinka, time will tell if he's become a bit more cautious in his sabbatical. Now I don't know but surely dealing with the Kurds must be Turkey's number 1 priority in Syria. I wouldn't have thought they'd particularly want a Russian naval base in Syria. I can see that al-Jawlani might favour the idea, if he doesn't want to be Turkey's puppet. He hasn't got any other governments as friends, so having leverage with Russia a nuclear power might prove useful.

So a few new developments;

-Russia is keeping its naval base in Syria as per the 50 year agreement.

-Assad is safe and snug in Moscow with his family and his billions

-Erdogan praises Putin 'last two leaders left in the world

-Syria is being dismembered by vultures, Turkish army and the 'rebels' launched an all out attack on the Kurds, and Israel is digging in.

Clearly opportunism on Israel's part, but an agreement was reached between Russia, turkey and Iran. Erdogan runs the rebels and soon the Kurds will cease being on the map.

Moldova - lost.
Ukraine - destroying Russian army and all Soviet stock that is remaining. Also lost.
Syria - fell to I shit you not "Diverse jihadists" who were semi-Turkish puppets but went off the leash.
Armenia - lost, quit the defense pact and aligning with France.
Georgia - in active revolt, on the brink of being lost.

Who does Russia even have left? Belarus? I mean it is not a very stable regime there and had to be reinforced by spikes. The other 2 "friends" are basically Iran and North Korea. But we all know that both NK and Iran are basically there for the money for now and not really "friends".
