Imagine how unserious this kind of thing looks to foreign leaders who have actually studied and interacted with the political process for their entire lives.

The West's clown show is running out of popcorn and the seals have stopped spinning balls on their noses because no one has been feeding them. Is this really the time for warmed over stand-up comedy from the 90s?

You are absolutely right. Trump is first and foremost a showman, not a politician! He is used to playing to the public, using loud phrases, and his “personality” is, as you rightly said, a fake that was invented for a TV show. And for the western common man, unsophisticated in political games, it works!

Western politics has turned into a show where everything is decided by PR, loud slogans and manipulation of mass consciousness. And there are fewer and fewer real politicians who think about the people and not about ratings!

Now they're pulling their old comedians out of mothballs and trying to entice the audience with them! They think it will still make someone laugh, but it doesn't make anyone laugh anymore! It's just more proof that they have no new ideas other than exploiting old clichés!

It was in response to the ascendancy of the Trump presidency that enticed political comics , such as Jon Stewart , to come out of retirement in the first place . When events seem to no longer make sense , the viewing public seeks answers from trusted old personalities .

Highspeed rail and other infrastructure upgrades and repairs?

Regaining control of national debt and consumer debt?

Fixing the border to ensure territorial integrity?

Repairing international relations with countries that have been abused or destroyed recently?

NAAAAH.

Just third-rate party jokes, followed by tax cuts for billionaires and reduced environmental protections.
Maybe destroy another oil-producing country while in office to bump approval ratings mid-term?

Trump's demand of 5% of GDP for defense should go further. The USA should demand that the weapons are made in USA or else the USA leaves NATO and Putin could can then do with Europe what him pleases to do.

Greenland would be and easy Target and Panama, just Canada will be complicated because of a possible guerilla war.

Likewise, Canada has to up its game when it comes to school shootings.

How to you feel about Canada's lack of school shootings? Doesn't our negligence mean that our toddlers won't be ready for guerilla warfare when they grow up?

Trump is like a Mafia don presiding over a gangster government , whose art of the deal is a via extortion .

Germany and France have warned Donald Trump against any attempt to “move borders by force” after the incoming US president said he was prepared to use economic tariffs or military might to seize control of Danish-administered Greenland.

In a hastily called televised statement, Germany’s chancellor, Olaf Scholz, said Trump’s remarks had triggered “incomprehension” among European leaders. “The principle of the inviolability of borders applies to every country – regardless of whether it is east of us or to the west – and every state must respect that, regardless of whether it is a small country or a very powerful state.”

Earlier, the French foreign minister, Jean-Noël Barrot, said that Europe would stand up in defence of international law. “There is no question of the EU letting other nations in the world, whoever they may be, attack its sovereign borders.”

Barrot added on France Inter radio, that, while he did not believe the US “would invade” Greenland, “we have entered an era that is seeing the return of the law of the strongest”.
Denmark has said it is open to dialogue with Trump about working together to address his legitimate security concerns when it comes to Greenland, while rejecting any threat of force or coercion.

Lars Løkke Rasmussen, the experienced Danish foreign minister, said it was in everyone’s interests to lower the temperature in the discussions.

“I have my own experiences with Donald Trump and I also know that you shouldn’t say everything you think out loud,” he said. He also played down the possibility that Greenland would ever become part of the US, adding: “We fully recognise that Greenland has its own ambitions. If they materialize, Greenland will become independent, though hardly with an ambition to become a federal state in the United States.” Denmark is caught in a double bind, confronted by the increasingly serious threats from Trump to take over the island for US geostrategic reasons, but also growing demands from Greenland’s political class for full independence from Denmark.

Greenland’s prime minister, Múte B Egede, held talks with the Danish king in Copenhagen on Wednesday, a day after Trump’s remarks thrust the fate of the mineral-rich and strategically important island into the spotlight.

In his new year remarks Egede had said that Greenland was now ready to take the next big step in the effort to break the “shackles of colonialism”. A self-government act has already been passed that opens the way to a referendum on independence. Local elections are due to be held in April that could turn into a test of opinion on Greenland’s constitutional future.

The president-elect’s son Donald Trump Jr flew briefly to Greenland on Tuesday in a trip coinciding with his father’s call for the US to run the island, and returned trying to stoke a mood for it to be sold to Washington.

He said: “These are people who feel they’ve been exploited. They haven’t been treated fairly by Denmark. They’re being held back from exploiting their natural resources, whether it’s coal, uranium, rare earths, gold or diamonds. It’s really a great place.” The Danish prime minister, Mette Frederiksen, said on Tuesday that she could not imagine Trump’s ambitions leading to US military intervention in Greenland. In 2019 she had called Trump’s demand that Greenland be put up for sale “absurd”. Since then there has been a collective decision by the Danish government to try to soothe emotions.

Greenland was a Danish colony until 1953 but is now a self-governing territory of Denmark and in 2009 achieved the right to claim independence through a vote.

Danish politicians are hoping a confrontation can be avoided by a meeting between senior officials from Denmark and the US to discuss any update required to the many post-second world war security agreements signed by the two countries. The US has a military base in Greenland, Pituffik space base (formerly Thule base), first established in 1941. It provides critical early-warning systems necessary to monitor Russian activity. Other bases were abandoned in the 1970s. But with the melting of the ice around Greenland, the possibility of new trade routes opening has transformed the Arctic’s importance.

In Berlin, Scholz said that Russia’s “brutal war of aggression” against Ukraine had prompted Germany as the EU’s top economy to strongly increase defense spending to 2% of GDP, amounting to it more than doubling in the last seven years. He noted that his country had worked closely with the US to protect Ukraine’s national “sovereignty and integrity”. “Borders must not be moved by force,” he said. In an hour-long press conference on Tuesday, Trump refused to rule out using military force to take the Panama canal and Greenland, and also suggested he intended to use “economic force” to make Canada part of the US.

Egede, a member of the pro-independence Community of the People (IA) party, said last week Greenland “is not for sale and will never be for sale”.

Arriving at Copenhagen airport late on Tuesday night, Egede responded to Trump’s refusal to rule out military or economic pressure in order to gain control of Greenland, saying they were “serious statements”.

His original meeting with the king, scheduled for earlier in the day, was cancelled at the last minute, with Egede’s office citing “diary gymnastics”. Donald Trump Jr’s visit to Greenland on Tuesday led to the cancellation being viewed by some as a snub and embarrassment to the king, who recently changed the royal coat of arms to more prominently include symbols of Greenland and the Faroe Islands, which are both autonomous territories of Denmark.

Aki-Matilda Høegh-Dam, the Greenlandic MP who represents the Siumut party in the Danish parliament, told the Guardian she took Trump’s comments about coercion as “directed more toward Panama than Greenland”. But, she said, his comments “underscore the growing geopolitical importance of Greenland”.

She added: “It also highlights a critical need for constructive dialogue. While I do not interpret his remarks as a threat of military force against Greenland or Denmark, they do suggest the United States may feel compelled to act if the kingdom of Denmark is unable to address security concerns effectively.” The Guardian

Armed and dangerous the preschool teachers in Canada are ready for anything.

They are packing Uzis and AK 47s waiting for some Americans to come in to Canada and wanting to rumble with the Maple Syrup Cartel!!

@QatzelOk It was a Joke.

What the fucking fat Yankees want?

We will make them colonny of Britain again... Europe is the mother of war! Epicenter of WW1 and WW2.

When all begun to colonize new territories let us see who was before WW2 (an huge mainly European Conflict).

Europe was the master of Imperialism.

1st Spain and Portugal

2 England, France and Netherlands (Indonesia) many smaller players.

The French army is not like the American a woke army it is the best trained and hardest of all NATO Forces... for example the French soldier shoots 450 m without scope.

Europe has outsourced security to USA, energy supply to Russia (now Qatar) and production to China, and the far right parties are vassals of foreign powers.

Europe has lost.

It needs a European army in French military tradition, nuclear power plants, fracking gas and protectionism against China.

The new green deal is a pipe dream by the Greens who have no clue about Science, for example Germany build a working Thorium reactor but the science-enemies prohibited further development, the result China is building it... like many European projects just to mention the Transrapid maglev trains.

Trump's demand of 5% of GDP for defense should go further.

No.

We already increased to 2% of GDP and guess what, nothing improved. At all. Europes military has only gotten worse since. And prices for military goods increased drastically.

Spoiler Alert: same would happen with 5% of GDP, 10% of GDP, or 20% of GDP, and even higher increase.

Its really super simple. To actually increase military production takes years. And private investors wont do such investment unless it was sure that the increased demand is permanent.

Thus, no. This is money wasted.

Just check out how little Russia spents on the military. FAR less than the USA alone. And yet they effortlessly beat our combined forces in Ukraine. We can provide far less from far more money than Russia can.

Thats because Russia owns their own MIC. If they want more production, they just give the command to do so. If they want larger stockpiles of ammunition, they just command to do so. If they want production reserves for wartime, they too just did so. Thats why they have large stockpiles and while they have a lot of production capacity thats normally unused, and yet its all very cheap, because they only have to pay the actual price, and not feed the insatiable greed of rich people as well.

The whole idea that you should spent x% of your GDP on the military is completely retarded. You should assess what military resources you need, then acquire the means to produce these resources. Thats done by training the required workers, acquire the required crudes, and producing the machines necessary. Not by wasting endless money and hoping that somehow rich people work for you out of the goodness of their heart.

That way your military budget would look like that of Russia - jumping all over the place, spending more when military resources are needed, spending less when everything you need is available. And overall being extremely less expensive than our western MIC.

The USA should demand that the weapons are made in USA or else the USA leaves NATO [...]

So basically the USA should rob Europe. And not even the USA in general, no, just the tiny circle of people who own the MIC in the USA. Only a tiny part of these gains will actually help the USA because rich people hardly pay any taxes in the US.

This is an idiotic proposal. You dont have the first clue about the topic.

Besides, if Trumps current moves are serious, the USA leaving NATO will very likely happen in a couple days anyway. Thats the only way these ideas of integrating Canada and Greenland into the USA would make any sense in the first place. Because right now both countries are part of NATO and thus part of the alliance led by the USA. Thus currently there is no need or point to unite Canada or Greenland with the USA.

Skynet wrote: [...] Putin could can then do with Europe what him pleases to do. [...]

Riddiculous.

First of all, literally the only thing Russia is trying to archieve is finally a lasting peace at their western frontier. If Europe is basically disarmed, that goal is already archieved. Russia would just happily ignore Europe from that point on. Its not like Europe was very friendly towards Russia recently in the first place.

According to the various western military experts that you can actually listen to on alternative news, such as Scott Ritter, Douglas McGregor any many others, occupying Ukraine alone would require about 3 million soldiers. No source I know of claims that Russia has anywhere near 3 million soldiers raised. The highest estimate I know of is about half of that, 1.5 million. So even occupying all of Ukraine is currently not an option.

Occupying Europe is therefore even less an option for Russia. They would have to have their whole population under arms for that. Including women, who dont usually get actual military combat training in Russia. Thats not even remotely realistic.

And what the heck would Putin need Europe for, exactly, anyway ? The parts of Ukraine that Putin has taken are primarily inhabited by russians, i.e. people who speak russian as mother tongue. He took those parts because Ukraine was terrorizing ukrainians who speak russian

What the heck would Putin do with, say, a part of Poland, or Germany, or Italy, or Greece ? The people wouldnt want him and they cant speak russian and probably wont want to learn that language, either. It would be nothing but a huge headache.

When I was in, many years ago, the British soldier shot 600m using iron sights. Not that we as support troops were expected to hit the target we were aiming for. For us, it was more an exercise in volley fire as cross-firing on the targets was common. It was also the only occasion I saw bullseye targets used by the military.

If I were you, I would remove the bolded claim, and replace it with "outsourced its media to giant oligarch-owned propaganda creators" and then it will be accurate.

To get rid of top-down control, the top-down-controlled media MUST be the first to go. Its lies are what make the other control measures possible.

Even as a god, I can't lie... ... Trump's intent to absorb Canada will help USA soon in this game... ...

But he will have to push hard right from the beginning since Jan 21th... ... Time awaits none, and US is not sitting on piles of time... ... Only a mad man as Trump will proceed to do the right things no sane will imagine possible, as no sane babe will choose me.

One term is way enough time to take Canada... ... and Greenland.

It will change a little mid way but nothing changes in the end, however.

It's true that if you are bankrupt, the only way to "growth" is through violence and theft.

You of course. Break away from Ottawa and become a new country. Quebec for the Quebecois I say! ;) :D

You do look good too in a suit I can tell. You might frighten the average Canadian voter out there...but if they stare long enough into those pretty eyes of yours? Anything is possible.
