Satire for October 2008 - Page 5 - Politics Forum.org | PoFo

Wandering the information superhighway, he came upon the last refuge of civilization, PoFo, the only forum on the internet ...

Political and non-political satire; all those terribly biased analogies live here.

The last three ones were somewhat shitty compared to the rest, true. The 1984 one was more of a followup to the "in soviet america, comic strip laughs at you" one, and the last two were a response to Dr House saying that the 1984 one wasn't funny.

You are bound to find cartoons that go against your ideology unfunny, because it even you doubt it and thus can't stand the slightest lampooning.

I don't think it has anything to do with ideology. I'm a classical liberal (i.e. avid opponent of neocons) and don't find Tom the Dancing Bug funny in the slightest. There is no wit, no sarcasm, and in fact no genuine satire. There's just a series of frames depicting the unformed, inarticulate stereotypes bought into by one (apparently adolescent) cartoonist.

The 1984 bit and the bits involving Uncle Sam and Lady Liberty, however, were funny as hell.

Forrest Gump Explains Mortgage Backed Securities:
Image

Mortgage backed securities are like boxes of chocolates. Criminals on Wall Street stole a few chocolates from the boxes and replaced them with turds. Their criminal buddies at Standard & Poor rated these boxes AAA Investment Grade chocolates. These boxes were then sold all over the world to investors. Eventually somebody bites into a turd and discovers the crime. Suddenly nobody trusts American chocolates anymore worldwide.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson now wants the American taxpayers to buy up and hold all these boxes of turd-infested chocolates for 700 billion dollars until the market for turds returns to normal. Meanwhile, Hank's buddies, the Wall Street criminals who stole all the good chocolates, are not being investigated, arrested, or indicted.
Mama always said: "Sniff the chocolates first, Forrest."

Actually I was saying that it isn't your fault. Not that it is.

I was pissed because the board auto-update took way too long.
