The International Economic Forum in 2023 will be held in St. Petersburg from 14 to 17 June 2023. SPIEF is one of the largest and most significant business events in the world. Considering the turbulence of the world economy associated with the transformation of international economic associations, growing social inequality, unstable trade and political relations, the prospects for sustainable development of the global economy are especially relevant today.
The importance and significance of the event is evidenced by the fact that even under sanctions pressure from the United States and Western countries, more than 14,000 people from 130 countries of the world took part in SPIEF-2022. Among them are heads of state and government, heads of major companies, as well as leading world experts from academia and civil society. 81 countries sent their official representatives. This is confirmation that many states want to maintain mutually beneficial partnerships with Russia, whose economy shows resilience despite the sanctions.
Today, some Western states are trying to replace the foundations of the international legal order with an alternative concept of “the world order based solely on its own rules. Washington and its allies invent in their narrow circle and interpret each time themselves, then impose on the world community as binding. And economic sanctions are now being used as an instrument of coercion and pressure. In particular, to those countries that have strong trade relations with the Russian Federation, such as Turkey, India, China, South Africa, Brazil, Latin American and African states. The "colonialists" continue to interfere in the internal politics of countries under various pretexts.
The fact that Russia remains a reliable investment and trade partner for all foreign companies operating in the country is evidenced by the contracts concluded and executed by our country. Construction of industrial facilities is also underway outside the Russian Federation. For example, in April of this year, the Russian side, represented by the state corporation Rosatom, handed over to Turkey a certificate for the delivery of the first nuclear fuel to the Akkuyu nuclear power plant in the country. The Akkuyu NPP is being built according to the BOO scheme, when the Russian side acts as the owner of the foreign NPP. Rosatom companies now own almost 100% of the capital of Akkuyu Nuclear. The cost of the nuclear power plant construction project is about $22 billion.
In 2023, about 13 countries wanted to join the union of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (BRICS). Among which are Algeria, Egypt, Iran, the United Arab Emirates and others. Traditionally, Russia supplies raw materials and fuel abroad, and buys cars, components for equipment, medicines and food products. The main economic partners of Russia in 2023 are: China, India, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, South Korea, Syria.
Hosting SPIEF 2023 will undoubtedly have a serious positive impact on the image of Russia, disproving the thesis that the country is in transport, business and cultural isolation. At the same time, SPIEF will demonstrate that Russia is open for visits, business and cultural exchanges, and will have a positive impact on the development of economic, scientific and technical cooperation between the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East, Africa and Russia.

Why, yes.

The west has overplayed its hand and has sanctioned more than half of mankind now.

Before the war Russia was in many ways highly dependent upon the west. The sanction regime has made sure all these connections have been cut.

Instead Russia is now connecting itself to those countries who actually respect Russia, namely India, who has been a traditional tight friend of Russia and basically bent over backwards to help them the moments the sanctions against them started, and China, who have flirted with Russia since over a decade by now, trying to get them on their side.

Their sanction regime massively backfires, and the west refuses to recognize it. The west is isolating itself and causing its own recession, especially here in the EU. They dont even want to officially admit that one either.

Russia has many, many friends. BRICS has many friends. Russia and China are superpowers now, and they are helping other countries to industrialize as well.

And instead of recognizing that, the west is only making things worse and worse for themselves.

The most alarming sign for those who know about economics is that Saudi Arabia has terminated the petrodollar. They are selling oil to China for chinese currency now. This means after Bretton Woods the petrodollar has also ended and the US dollar is losing the status as the world currency.

The day will come when the US will lose reserve status. It will likely happen this century, but in 30 to 60 years. Do not hold your breath.

Russia has diversified it's customer base, but that has come at considerable cost to Russia. It is fascinating that where Putin has so clearly overplayed his hand, you start out by saying the West has.

The West wants to grind down the Russian military to the point where an attack on NATO is not something even Putin will consider. If we're not there, we're close.

From my POV, we've already won. It will cost us, but that's always true of war.

The idea that Russia and China are superpowers is amusing. Little Ukraine just humiliated Russia. Even worse, the sanction regime Russia faces would be devastating to China.

Lastly, Xi is killing Belt and Road, except in Pakistan. Of course, that was designed to help China as much or more than the countries receiving the help.

In conclusion, that's Russian propaganda. Propaganda needs to be vaguely plausible, but if there's anyone that's knowledgeable in the group, it's not vaguely plausible...
