I should just note too, that LOTR , as in the book, not the commodity, has inspired some great independent music over the years, all quite different... but as with everything America touches, it's been turned into another retarded, cliche market.

The same applies for art too, but unfortunately this has been taken over by an infinite sea of screen-capture mugs, shirts, pencils, toilet-paper, etc.

:*(

Sigh, I still haven't been able to find Starship Troopers, Jesse, except a few dodgy mp3s.

I will have to try to find the Equilibrium one, I can't remember the music, but such a great movie is sure to have great music ;)

28 days later had a good soundtrack, or rather, it fit the mood of the movie.

Yeah. Very good. What about:

Best OST composers: Henry Mancini (Breakfast at Tiffany´s, the Pink Panther, Hatari, Charade, Days of Wine and Roses, etc), Hans Zimmer (Gladiator, the peacemaker, etc), Vangelis (chariots of fire, blade runner, etc).
Good selection of songs: Blues Brothers, Trainspotting.

LOTR: sucks.

Ocker wrote:Conan the Barbarian

It's nice to know that I'm not the only person who recognizes that scores greatness. Its so barbarian and warlike in character. It makes great use of the combination of choral and orchestra. I hear the music from the scene where the village is attacked and I picture guys charging with battle axes. My younger brother noted that the music makes great use of percussion and that may contribute to its primitive and savage feel.

Let's revisit this thread, but include some actual music:

David Shire's clever combination of jazz/funk and serial techniques:

Jerry Goldsmith channeling Stravinsky's Sym in 3 Mvts? Never mind, it's still good:
