A question for the Liberals/Democrats on rights. - Page 11 - Politics Forum.org | PoFo

Wandering the information superhighway, he came upon the last refuge of civilization, PoFo, the only forum on the internet ...

Jesus. Why are you so emotive about this?

How about...

"Modern conservatives and Republicans are the parties of death when they allow vicious and violent soldiers to horrifically rape and heartlessly kill poor, harmless civilians in complete brutality and cold blood."

See what I did there?

I did exactly what you're doing.
No you did not. American soldiers get prosecuted for those crimes. Mothers crushing the skulls of children in their wombs do not.

You need to start judging and discriminating the difference and lose the Zero Tolerance mentality taught in school.
Let's face it... if the police thought like you they wouldn't execute child molesters/killers that have a gun to the head of a child in order to save the child now would they?

Have you been to a country without the death penalty?

We don't execute criminals, but we certainly try and prevent crimes however possible. If that means killing the criminal than so be it.

There's a difference between prevention and punishment. Just like interdiction of Marijuana supply and having 2 year prison sentences for Marijuana possessions are two very different things.

Zero Tolerance has to do with not judging the deviant, but simply appropriating a punishment. Like Mandatory Minimum Sentencing. But for kids. If Zero Tolerance existed at every level of our justice system all Murderers would be given the same punishment. Likely death. How does that have anything to do with supporting prevention of crime or legal interventions but not punishments of some sort?

Morally though... if you can validate SWAT executing a man with a gun to the head of a child you should have no double standard of another man that has already killed a child.
Actually that's a legal intervention, not an execution.

DDM, my point is that your highly emotive language seems completely base and anyone can use it.

In my opinion there's no room for this in rational political debate- because it's completely subjective.

The legal intervention being an execution for ones actions based on a presumption of action that may be committed.

Should Obama be tried for his execution of three black men (pirates) while they were in good faith negotiations with the Navy?
