What was the most important trial of the 20th century? This could be for political, pop-culture ete. reasons.

Scope's Monkey Trial- A trial about a Tennessee school-teacher in the 1910s who taught the theory of evolution when it was illegal at this time. This trial destroyed religion being taught in school and really led to a more scientific cirriculum.

Lindburg Baby Murder Trial- A trial in which a man was accused of murdering the famous Charles Lindburg's baby. It was famed by its gruesomeness and for the simple fact that it was Charles Lindburg.

Rosenberg Trial- A famous trial where the Rosenbergs were accused of selling nuclear secrets to the Russians at the height of the Cold War. Many speculated that it wasn't actually the Rosenbergs, but it was just paranoia brought by McCarthyism.

Brown vs. Board of Education- This is a trial where a black man wanted his black child to go to an all-white school because it was closer. It got international attention because it was attacking the Segregation laws of the school system while the Civil Rights movement was taking place. It changed society in America greatly.

Rodney King Assault Trial- A trial accusing officers of a savage beating of a black man. Even though there was overwhleming evidence agaisnt them, an all-white jury found them innocent, inciting riots in the LA area. It is seen as one of the biggest injustices of all time.

OJ Simpson Trial- A trial in which, former football player OJ Simpson was accused of murdering his wife. It was a trial full of excitement and new twists every day, which went on for years. People were addicted to the trial and it seemed to always make headlines. OJ was found innocent, even though many people suspect he was innocent.

Brown vs. Board of Education, for jumpstarting the end to racism. The Rodney King trial continued that, dspite the cops not getting what they deserve.

Dao, how can you say that the constitution was destroyed(implied) when seperate but equal are an obvious challenge to the fourteenth admentment, I believe, when held on public grounds by the government.

What did the OJ trial do? While it got a lot of attention I don't think it changed anything did it? 10 years on and all is done, all it has done is provide an occasional bad joke. While it was a moment in pop-culture, I'm not sure it has changed anything for pop-culture has it? I certainly don't think it's had a significant impact on anything years down the line.

Of course, since I am not American nor was I born when most of those things happened, it is the only one I've heard of.

Bingo. Everybody knows OJ.

And by the way, it did change America. From that point on, it proved that the only color the Justice System sees is GREEN. Think about it, a black man is accused of slashing a white woman's throat, and he is acquitted!

Now, we have Kobe Bryant, who was accused of raping a white girl in a predominantly white area, and he'll be acquitted.

The way she was flaunting around, she was asking for it.

Honestly, I heard Kobe is the middle ingredient in a 3-guy chowder they found in her. The point is you can be a black accused of a heinous crime against a white woman and get off now. Remember the times when blacks were lynched for even whistling at a white woman?

AZ, I was joking, and besides, she probably wasn't raped. She probably literally asked for it. And the cocktail proves she was a slut. Think about it, it's Kobe Bryant, which girl wouldn't bone him?

Fuck yeah, the judge is allowing sexual history to be admitted. Usually that's protected in a case like this. I think she did invite it and someone put her up to crying rape for a payday. But instead of pulling a Michael Jackson (another trial of the century in the making?) he's contesting the accusations.

Scott Peterson is probably guilty. But, let's pull an OJ and threaten to riot if he's convicted. Haven't had a good ol' fashioned California riot in a while. That's what we need.
