Hardly selling out, the only thing that we have not in common is the economic policy. I personally have moved to being opposed to the neo-classical synthesis and more towards neo-Keynesian policy until such a time as satisfactory - read non-ideologically driven- models of the economy are produced by either social or physical scientists that reflect the current state of the world.

A RF/SN joint policy committee is acceptable to the SN (Vladimir thinks that the RF should formally merge with the SN to produce a new Party but I believe that would be a mistake). Anyway the deal is all but done, the SN wants to know who will be on our side of the table.

I don't have any problem with the idea of a RF-SN alliance though a merge is unlikely at this stage.

However, it also depends on individual member for some libertarian socialists/anarchists may not like allying with communists.

So I will accept the proposal of an alliance with SN but reserves the right to dissent on specific issues.

You mean the RF-SN joint policy committee? Can you explain how it works?

It's a separate thread where putative RF/SN policy statements are posted with a couple of us and a couple of them, the committee, only posting our respective Party's agreed position on each statement, in our case the RF official Party line. Anyone else can contribute but only the policy committee has the authority to introduce, modify, veto etc. after proper consultation, of course. It is the only way I can see of keeping some order, some consistency and most importantly our autonomy. Nothing can be published as an official 'joint statement' without going through this process.
