The socialists received 50% of the vote. Hardly the basis for the creation of a Soviet state, without dealing with widespread dissent.

We have the democratic mandate to crush that dissent. Thatcher crushed the dissenting voices in Britain in the 1980s, most notably the unions and the local councils, and she never had more than about 35% of the vote.

42% of the vote, 20 odd percent of the electorate.

We have 50% of the vote, and roughly 30% of the electorate going by the two elections before this one.

Anyway, most people want a quiet life and couldn't give a shit so any dissent will be patchy.
